  1. People seem to forget the guys who are arranging these contracts are highly successful businessmen who will pay more on a day's legal fees than most of us get paid in a year. Ergo, what appears to be dubious from the outside will undoubtedly be on the correct side of legal in the small print.

I can't see us getting out of any of these onerous contracts: be it the retail stuff, loan securities, player loans, wi-fi, catering, stewarding or screen rental. Negotiation is perhaps as good as we'll do but that suggests a willingness of the other party to come to the table. How likely is that?

I've been saying similar, "see you in court" might sound simple enough especially when something is so obviously a stitch up but the legal reality of these things is a different matter.

  2. Sorry my memory is pish this morning, i blame it on my ageing. The cheque was for far more than £500k, but why let facts get in the way of a bit of revision.

As explained above, Greenco bought the club for 5.5 million plus whatever other fees the process required, then McColl then offered them 6 million. I'm referring to the profit he was offering.

  3. "Half hearted failure" the man was willing to write a cheque to take the club from Greenco, but was stopped, because Big Hauns was greedy and trying take take him for a mug punter.

Green and his group had just gone through a weeks long process to buy the club and as well as the stated 5.5 million had likely spent more on things like lawyer's fees. Regardless of what Green was and what doubts people may have about that buyout process, anyone with sense surely knew offering 6 million and therefore a meagre profit after a couple of days was never going to shift him? What was the point if he wasn't going to try and at least tempt them with a few million?

  4. That's a bit of a historical revision there, Jim tried on several occasions, once with Walter Smith and another attempts with the the requisitioners, and i would think, although i don't have the proof. He helped in the King, 3b's successful removal of the Ashley regime. Although i would agree he gave his valuable time, rather than a financial input, but imo equally praiseworthy.
The Walter Smith thing and the requisition are the half hearted failures I was referring to. A single bid offering Green a 500k profit to go was put in before he gave up, the requisition involved no shares being bought and the incumbent board won the AGM by a landslide.

If his time is so valuable then there's no need for him to give media interviews about us.

  5. You don't know if he's planning to invest or get involved in the club? So by your reasoning a Rangers supporter's is not entitled to give their views on the club unless they have already put money into the club. Even less of a view if there a Nationalist, no wonder we're in trouble with attitudes like that.
I never said that at all but we're not talking about an ordinary supporter, we're talking about a billionaire who rarely ever seems to even attend a game (unless anyone can inform me otherwise). His previous attempts at intervening have failed and seemed half hearted with no intention of putting up any money shown.

It's a free country so of course you can't stop him giving his views, I just don't see how they're of any help or relevance to us. Dave King for all his faults is the one who managed to oust the previous regime, Jim McColl didn't lift a finger.

  6. Any positive comments in the media, about our club is to be welcomed,. Especially from a man of J mccoll's standing, is a good counterweight to the incessant negative bullshit from the haters.

Spare me the stuff about his standing, he doesn't even pay tax in this country yet he campaigned to break it up.

I'll do fine without hearing from him unless he actually plans to make a proper contribution to the club

  7. Anyone who tried to help the club, no matter whether they were unsuccessful or not, get's my thanks. Some did more than Jim MColl, but many did far less.

Those people, clubs and organisations, who actively tried to kill our club. will have my undying hatred, if the opportunity should arise in the future for some small measure of retribution, be sure my boot will firmly, rapidly and often be put into them.

Apart from any of the aforementioned scum, We as a club cannot afford to turn away any business men of Jim McColl abilities. I couldn't care less if he doesn't put a brass farthing into the club, his business acumen, connections and standing would be worth a fortune to the club .

Him speaking occasionally in the media about Rangers is of no benefit to us at all so it's hardly turning him away to say that he may as well not bother.

  8. I can't see this standing up legally. 5 players, no medical, only one plays.

Ashley can get to f.uck - he's not getting £500k if we get promoted.

If we can find a legal loophole great and hopefully we already have lawyers on the case.

If there is no way around it however we'll sadly have to pay it, you can't just not pay a debt because it's morally dubious.

  9. Ashley's got 9%....couldn't he call an EGM right now if he wanted to ?

Calling it and winning it are different things....he'd need 51%.....so which institutions have got enough shares to achieve that ?

I'm not sure of exact mathematics but despite the landslide EGM result the previous board members had about 85% shareholder backing as recently as December so it shows how quickly support can be lost and gained.
