If that ever does happen, then the game's a bogey. I'll go to Ibrox for as long as I want, all that I'm saying is that if Rangers fans stuck to Rangers songs, then everyone would be included.

I agree with you, Dell. For me, any "anti" song is just pish. I just want the Rangers support to be recognised as the best in football, sadly, the baggage gives us an unwarranted bad reputation, IMO.

You said it was "the biggest" now it's one of the biggest. I've been to plenty of OF games and I do love the atmosphere, though I don't enjoy hatred in any respect, it's an unhealthy mind-set to have and a waste of emotion. Well this thread is evidence of some fans being alienated. Why can't you just sing Rangers songs at the football? Why is that so hard for some folk to accept. Sing whatever you like in your clubs/halls/homes just not at the football? If the majority of our fans think that to sing about the IRA/politics/religion at a football match is acceptable, then we're on a hiding to nothing.

Stick to Rangers songs, easy as that.
  5. Probably a few words needing changed but I think the problem would've been that some people would continue to sing the original words out of some misplaced sense of freedom of speech and defiance at being told that they shouldn't sing certain words....

Rangers songs will unite the support, we all know that. You might not like some 'Gers songs, but that's a completely different kettle of fish, at least we know the relevance of singing Rangers songs at a Rangers match. Every reason given, thus far, for singing political/religious/paramilitary songs just doesn't make sense to me and 50% of Gersnet (give or take)

And that's a quality? Religious hatred? Really? Anyone who thinks the OF derbyis the biggest on the world is kidding themselves on. How many times do I need to make this simple and concise point? ALL Rangers fans LOVE RANGERS songs. Not all Rangers fans find the religious chants/paramilitary songs/political songs an accetpable form of supporting the team. Such songs alienate parts of our support and divide the fans. WHY WOULD ANYONE WILLINGLY WANT TO DIVIDE THE SUPPORT? That is, IMO, a very short-sighted view and I feel that you fail to see the big picture and how such songs and chants effect our image. I would say that I respect your choice too, but I don't as it'll effect how we are seen and how our own fans see ourselves. It's not acceptable to me and to more and more Rangers fans. The songs will be forced out. We have no choice if the club is to move on and be seen as been progressive, like the rest of British society. Extremism is not a trait that I want to see attached to Scotland's best club.
  8. I found the logo on their banner bring about a sense of nostalgia from my misspent youth. We used to write graffiti about our "gang" in a similar fashion. "Hated but rated", "kick to kill" etc. Wonder what the VB's will come up with next?
  9. No, that's why I asked.
  10. What is their "community"? What is it that's "under attack"? What is their "way of life"?

No it's not and with any sense, the songs will disappear in a few years too.
  12. So, it doesn't matter what they sing just as long as they sing and create an atmosphere? And again, how does it "SUPPORT" the team?
  13. Not one person has shown me or explained how shouting political/paramilitary/religious chants "supports" the team. If being a PUL is important to you, then go ahead. Just don't attach it to the club.
  14. They, by their own accounts, are representing the fans. Their views don't represent my own. Instead of using the club as a political voice, why don't they just start a PUL political party which they could use to promote their way of life?
  15. Will we ever have a fans group which represent Rangers fans and the club by just being Rangers fans instead of attaching all the uneccessary baggage of being a PUL? Seriously, how many Rangers fans are PUL, we all know religion is on the wane and anyway, why does it need to attach itself to Rangers? This 'way of life' stuff is frankly absurd. What way of life is it? I sometimes feel that I live on another planet when it comes to these bloggers. I wish I could be arsed but I just can't. These guys just aren't my cup of tea. No doubt some are decent blokes but the messages conveyed just don't sit well with me.

Why not just sing about Rangers. Saves all this hassle and bad blood. We all love Rangers and we all love Rangers songs so why not just stick to them and we can all move on together, holding hands into the bright new dawn.

Pass, Del, after 20+ years of sitting there, the seat has moulded itself round the contours of my immaculate physique. Plus, from my vantage point, it allows me to keep a close eye on BF1...

No it wasn't. 1991 Rangers v DU. 2-0 with Andy Goram pulling off a super save against big Drunken Duncan.

Well, I've had my season book for over 20 years, same seat in the Club Deck, and don't fancy a move down to pitch level. I just got my 6yo son his first season book. Thanks for the offer though, Deeks.
  22. To be honest, and I know it won't happen, but I wish Rangers would lose the shirt sponsor altogether. The new Rangers home strip is the best for years but the adult shirt is ruined by the "Tennents" logo.

I think that these songs have no place at the football. Personally, I wasn't offended but no doubt some poor soul cried. I just want the UB's to sing Rangers songs, that's all. Celebrate the club and our players, we are all united in the common love for that at least. Everyone that goes to Ibrox wants to hear Rangers songs, not everyone wants to hear political and terrorist tunes.

I don't know what sobs are, but I'm not offended by them, nor am I offended by songs either and I doubt anyone is apart from McGobblegivers daughter. Point is that offensive songs get the club into bother. Again though, the point of the OP is that Rangers fans should sign Rangers songs. Not anti-Celtic/anti-IRA/anti-SNP songs, but PRO-RANGERS songs.

They are not being criminalised for being football fans, they were being criminalised for singing offensive songs You said people should be allowed to "say what they want, when they want", what you've said above contradicts your original point. So in honour of your good self:
