Perhaps ironically, HMRC are introducing "real time PAYE" in April. Basically, what happened before was that HMRC did not know how much actual PAYE/NI was due to them until April/May when companies filed their P11's. From April though, all companies will need to submit their monthly deductions to HMRC so that debts can not be accrued by insolvent companies.
