  1. That's a lot of money to spend on one player in an extremely mediocre side. Then again, it happens in England all the time.

The tims have made some shrewd moves over the years so perhaps this is another player they'll make a good profit on. He's only scored goals in Scotland though (11 in 29) so such a fee seems strange.

I'm aware I have contradicted myself about 8 times in this post and will just leave it there.

Was that during the dark ages before my presence on this site? :D

Thanks, but I'll just tally it up myself. I've got the set-up sorted anyway from the Rangers GPL.

Will it be a topic for each game? I don't think that will work. Probably best doing one topic for all of the group games.

Do you think real betis would finish 6th in england.

La ligua has had 3 winners in 14 years.

It depends how you judge best.

Why not? They finished above Sevilla who skelped Man Utd in the CL. 7th place in Spain = Sevilla; 7th place in EPL =.....Burnley.

There really is no argument whatsoever to be had that the EPL is the best league.

  4. Regardless of their CL victories, finishing third is really poor for Real. I will be interested to see how Zidane does at other clubs, if he does even continue in management. A side of Real's quality picks itself.

The epl has its merits. The better sharing of cash makes it stronger top to bottom.

How many leagues have teams lime villa and fulham playing off just to get in.

Do you think Burnley would finish anywhere near 7th in Spain? No chance.

Outwith the top 6 the EPL has a lot of crap in it, and that includes two really poor Chelsea and Arsenal sides.

The guy has a dozen caps for Mexico and showed at times last season he could play (or at least finish). However it was like watching a player at one of those legends games. He was nowhere near fit enough for us, and I can’t really see that changing. However, his wages are so high & no other club will sign him, so I think we have to give him a chance. Same with Herrera, although he actually was fit enough but never looked skilful enough. How either player got capped by Mexico is a mystery, but they couldn’t have always been that bad & aren’t that old to be considered over the hill.

I don't think having a small amount of caps for Mexico necessarily means anything. Remember when Celtic signed Brazilian internationalist Rafael Scheidt?

Difficult to say what may become of him. I think we could all agree a guy like Gerrard will be not just asking for the utmost in professionalism but demanding it and the recent behaviour of Pena wont be tolerated.

The article says he went into rehab two weeks ago. Does this mean he has taken a look at himself and decided he still wants to be a professional footballer? Trying to suggest to Gerrard that he can be?

Anyone with a chance of getting into this team will have to be turning up for pre season soon ready to get going and I don't mean going to the pub.

Difficult to say what may become of him? There has never been a more obvious instance of a player who clearly has no future with us. He has as much chance of being a regular under Gerrard as I do.

I wanted Jokanovic for us, but that was a long shot then...

I loved his Watford side; superb to watch. I was surprised they released him before getting the chance in the PL.

His Fulham side are even better.

4-3-3, with two 'Scots' in the midfield and a Celtic reject, playing beautiful, passing football.

Jokanovic is exactly what we've been crying out for for so many years.

It probably is in some respects but it doesn't have the best football teams.

The EPL's strength is the depth of decent quality teams competing at the top and that provides regular matches for Super Sundays and the like.

We used to be told the top 4 made the EPL the best league in the world. Given the respective CL performances from the big leagues in recent years, this clearly isn't the case anymore.

We were then told the general quality of the EPL outwith the top 4 made it the best league in the world. However, the respective Europa performances from the big leagues in recent years suggests this isn't the case either.

Below Arsenal, there's a lot of dross in that league. Burnley, Everton, Leicester and Newcastle all finished in the top half. These are not good football teams.

P.S. as for your point about teams competing at the top, Man City won by 19 points.

I believe villa are in deep financial doo-doo if they don't make it to the premier league and will have to make big cuts to player costs. One or two decent players may well become open to offers. Snodgrass, Grealish?

Villa are looking for £40m for Grealish and Snodgrass is on loan, plus cost over £10m a season ago.

    Spain continues to dominate

La Liga sides have won 13 of the past 14 European trophies - Champions League, Europa League and Uefa Super Cup.

But the EPL is the best league in the world apparently.

I think I, and any poster, will post whatever they want and leave it to admin to decide what should or shouldn't be posted, I also wouldn't dream of telling any poster what to post or not!

Admin aren't going to tell us what can be posted beyond what breaks the rules. I think we have to have some sort of degree of self-responsibility and stop publicising nonsense like this. He is a troll and you're giving him what he wants.

Personally I think Alnwick was our number 1 keeper. He is better than both McG and Wes at coming for crosses and I don´t think we can question his reaction saves as he has had some crackers.

Lol man...this is up there with some of the biggest nonsense I've ever read on here. Just look at the clubs McGregor and Alnwick were getting their games for.

Alnwick isn't even good enough for one of the worst Rangers teams of all time. McGregor is one of our standout players of recent history, and is still competing at a high level.
