  1. Palace 3 - 2 West Ham after 35 minutes.
  2. OK--I don't disagree with these points. I have said he should have been sold a few years ago. He encapsulates the perfect transfer, for me: stats-based scouting, finding an under-utilised asset, signing for tuppence, developing them and then selling for £10-15M. We just messed up with the last stage.
  3. If you remove that first sentence, you're spot on. Too many are quite fragile. Barisic comes to mind, too.
  4. The majority want to let him go. I'd give him a 1-year contract. He's one of our best midfielders, and although he's often injured, it's not Helander level, so you still get around 30 games a season from him.
  5. Yes, not me, though; I've got it under control ...
  6. It's a drug. You know what it does to you, but you just can't help yourself...
  7. Well, I feel better.
  8. I went back through the thread because the arguments were becoming messy. I agree with your basic process, here - although with data analysts working closely with the DoF and scouts. I'd also want a layer of future planning, which the DoF should manage, and to be more ruthless in selling players when their peak value is reached. I don't think we've got this system implemented properly yet; we're in-between systems, which is not doing us any good, IMO.
  9. Didn't he say so?
  10. You seem to be saying GvB was useless because he was picking from a pre-existing scouting list AND/OR he's useless because he's had too much freedom when he's actually used to a mode rigid DoF model such as at Feyenoord. Surely both can't be true? Or I'm conflating ideas?
  11. I think I'm winning this vote, by virtue of all the abstentions.
  12. You're mistaken. It's stats for past performance. It's Juju - always capitalised - for the manipulation of future events.
  13. OK.
  14. I don't think we know the answer at all. That's part of the problem.
  15. He's only been in the door 5 minutes.
  16. Clearly it's Tillman, in both categories.

  18. Rangers 1 - 0 Celtic FGS Tavernier
  19. Did he not get a run-out in a pre-season game? Technically correct. (I might be wrong.)
  20. He signed players that he wanted, just because they didn't come from certain countries doesn't mean he didn't.
  21. I agree, and that sort of proves my point that the DoF didn't have as much control as he should. I don't think managers should be using their connections - or, at least only as part of the strategy already in place.
  22. IT'S CHILDLIKE INNOCENCE! IT'S ENDEARING! A coach could scout a player and still not get on with them over the course. You need a join-up approach, with a certain profile of player, a competent coach - not a manager in disguise - and a DoF in overseeing it all.
  23. If a coach has to bring in specific players to get anything out of them, he's not a very good coach. It's just my opinion. I know I'm too progressive for most of you...
  24. Agreed - and picking the manager with a similar philosophy fits into that model, that continuity, that I'd like to see. We've been a little mixed, I'd say. I does look like Willock will fit. I don't have an issue with him, per se, merely the idea that we're picking him because he's worked with MB before. I get the feeling Wilson didn't have as much say as a DoF should, IMO. I think the profile of signings were quite different, from SG to GvB to MB. Which fits into my views regarding a DoF's powers.
