This is the perfect scenario, for us: sign young, hungry players with raw ability, for next to nothing; get them playing a lot of games, developing their all-round game; then sell after 2-3 years. That's why I have been saying that Morelos and Kamara should have been sold last year or the year before. (Kamara less so because he's signed a new deal, so we can extend his stay a little.)

I don't like to tout my own horn, but, I did. I feel the same with Kamara, too. It took some of you a while to come around to recognising Kamara's ability.

I have full trust in Ross Wilson. I think targets will be known and monitored. I think we will be in contact with out-of-contract players. I'm still a little disappointed that there's been no movement thus far.

Sounds like Scott Wright was the stand-out. James Sands played at CB for the second half despite the midfield being composed of youngsters, which stood out to me - is that his position going forward?

It's actually brilliant to see. It's just what we want. Hopefully we can see them progress into the first team over the next few years - or get sold for megabucks.

Yes, he doesn't scout players himself, but he absolutely does have a huge say in the specific individuals we sign. I agree that a replacement for Scoulding is key a piece of recruitment this season.

He sets the player profile, identifies the players types, the targets, he's in charge of the scouts... etc. Look up Begiristain and Monchi - two of the best DoFs around. They are very much responsible for the players that come into the club. The manager should have very little to do with it - he'll have an input, certainly, but it's the DoF that is ultimately responsible for player recruitment.

He has scouts, as I said, but the DoF is very much involved with scouting. He is also a negotiator, but that is a simplistic description of his role.

That is his role. Well--not scouting directly - he's got scouts for that - but he is in charge of recruitment.

It would be good to move Aribo on. I'd take ~£10M.

I'm disappointed that there hasn't been any significant movement thus far - in or out.
