  1. I think Windass is done now too.
  2. I think Murphy's race is run.
  3. I looked at the clock: it was 46:16... Long half.
  4. Blow the whistle ref! It's running down the inside of my leg...
  5. 0-1 Rangers. Tavernier with a well-taken penalty. He sure can strike a ball!
  6. Penalty Rangers. Should that not be a red card, for denying a goal-scoring opportunity?
  7. SG went to a 4-5-0 initially, but it's more a 4-3-2 now, with Murphy and Windass playing in the channels just in front. That leaves a loot of work for Coulibaly and Arfield to cover wide areas.
  8. Was it @buster. that said it'll be 10 against 12? Prescient.
  9. What!? Is that it? That's barely a yellow. Ridiculous.
  10. Did anyone confirm the sell-on clause with Waghorn? SSN reporting Middlesbrough have agreed an undisclosed fee with Ipswich.
  11. When you see Windass is starting...
  12. I switched over to the Sunderland-Charlton game after Stokes took the final wicket. When you look at the Jack Ross' Sunderland team, it's who's who of players who have had brief 'success' in Scottish football: McLaughlan, Loovens, Ozturk, Matthews, Maguire and Oviedo. I suppose it illustrates the dangers of allowing a manager full control of transfers. Charlton lead 0-1.
  13. Nothing really came off for him -- just like the rest of their team, to be fair -- but I felt he was their main danger. The Left-back looked solid.
  14. What's an "attacking wing half"?
  15. Although I disagree and that Ejaria will play quite often -- not as much as Arfield, as I think he'll be preferred --, it was mostly the positions that I was pleased with. The two 8s are key in this formation. We've not had a proper 4-3-3 for a while.
  16. I thought our 8s (Coulibaly and Ejaria) were terrific last night. Their positioning was excellent, they covered the wide areas, covered for each other, blocked off the centre and occupied the half-space going forward which provided passing options. Ejaria is raw, and made several mistakes. Too often he wanted the flair pass -- although I don't think they were wrong, they were just perhaps unlikely to come off -- and can get caught in possession in deep areas. If he can cut out the latter, and be a little more conservative in the former, he'll be a very good player for us this season. Coulibaly was a little complacent at times too, but he did the 'destroyer' role well. There were perhaps better individual performances last night, but I'm mostly pleased with the 8s. They are key in the 4-3-3, and have been missing in the other times we played it last season. It's a unique position; they are not DMs and they are not #10s. I think they will be key going forward.
  17. Aberdeen 0 - 1 Rangers FGS Morelos
  18. We should sign the Osijek Left-back, Barasic. And Henty. Good players.
  19. I'm repeating myself, but I CAN'T GET OVER HIS PACE!
  20. It was 77:30. What a lay off, and what a run to get on the end of the cross. Love it.
  21. There seems to be a steal about the team too, which is pleasing. Wigan were quite aggressive. What's that, 4/5 clean sheets? OK, it's mostly pre-season but that's a good solid base.
  22. That was a poor first-half with the ball, but actually, without the ball, we did well. I was frustrated at our inability to progress the ball up the field; we just gave it away most of the time. Docherty summed it up: his body position was all wrong first half; he was always straight on when receiving from the back so he could not see what was around him, meaning he could only go back, or get caught in possession when he tried to turn; very poor all-round; Second-half he was more side on, meaning he could take it and turn. The tempo was much better. I actually thought having Foderingham's ability to pass out from the back helped too -- Alnwick just kept lumping it up, giving it away. I was annoyed at McGregor's inability to pass out too against Osijek, but I would of course take McGregor's superior saving ability and experience etc. every day of the week -- oh, to have a mix of both! Middleton is lively, but quite naive; he'll be a good player eventually, and will play a big part this season, I think. I liked Sadiq. He was a bit sluggish and clumsy -- perhaps that's just his gait -- but he holds the ball up very well, and has a superb burst of pace. There was a moment at around 75 minutes when he chests and lays off a lofted pass, is clattered to the floor with shirt ripped, jumps up and sprints into the box running past everyone else, nearly connecting with Middleton's cross from the left. His long legs allowed him to take in several balls I thought he'd lost. Nice vision too to play in Coulibaly at the end there. Murphy's decision-making and positioning is wrong to me. Middleton and Candeias are better. Middleton in particular made some nice runs to collect the ball from the CB. Anyway, that was a decent performance. Hopefully we take that into the crucial Thursday game.
