One could argue that he is pragmatic. Experience maybe an issue, but it shouldn't rule anyone out if they are the right candidate -- I'm repeating myself, but Joachim Low.

Maybe, but Potter has been successful over a longer term, albeit in the Swedish lower leagues. Experience should rule anyone out, as long as they're the right candidate. Joachim Low was a nobody before taking Germany to new heights (relatively speaking!).

The DoF should be doing that. Then any manager should be scouted to meet those needs and philosophy. Southampton keep a black box on managers that they want to, or could, continue their style and philosophy. The managers fit into the club's philosophy.

There are negatives -- although your's is just local culture I presume, so he'll not be doing that here! It's a big step up for him. It's a good step for him. For us, maybe too much of a gamble? Again...

The Club shouldn't be fitting around a manger's philosophy, the Manager should be fitting around the Clubs philosophy; the Club needs to scout a manager that fits.

That does not make sense. Especially when they are defenders. Hill has been in teams that conceded 8 goals against Celtic (13 if you include the game he was on the bench), whereas Alves has been in teams that conceded 5. Both have gained 1 point. I REST MY CASE!!

McGinn's a good player -- although he's not a goalscorer (20 goals in 6 seasons). If we could get him, we should go for it. However, it's very unlikely, as Frankie outlined.

How long has Allan got left on his Celtic deal? I'd still take him: he's near the top of most creativity stats; he's the natural #10 that we're crying out for. I'd also take Dundee's Aurtinxatse (sp? whatever) and Kamara. Again, they do very well in the stat department.

He's a known quantity, of good quality and played at a good level. He could play #10, and give Windass some competition. But, he's getting on a bit. A bit like Dorrans, actually. I think we need quality at the moment over potential. We're slating Morelos, McCrorie, Docherty and (too a lesser extent) Windass at the moment, who're all players with potential.
