I like two up front, but our support structure doesn't facilitate this. We're not positioned correctly, players aren't covering and don't press cohesively etc. I think we can get the same effect if we play a 4-3-3, but again, the same problems (manager is not good enough) mean we'll not utilise it properly. At the moment he needs to just play what he knows.

His track record suggests he makes very good starts, then fades away; he did the same at West Brom and Reading, I think?

The defence is not dealing with (a) balls on the ground and the movement, nor (b) are they dealing with the physical battle. Add to that the midfield letting them pass through them, then just jogging back! Too easy. It's not zonal or Man-marking.

If we're blocking off the centre and forcing them wide, then I think I'd prefer Alves instead of McCrorie; he's just better in the air, and at clearing things.
