  1. But keeping him as manager is costing us financially. You're delusional if you believe keeping him as manager is going to fix anything. We're regressing under Clement Maybe there is a release clause in that new improved contract the board gave him? You keep implying I've learnt nothing from 2012 when I was one of the first fans to warn where we were heading under Murray. Cloud cuckoo land stuff. Said previously we need to separate what is required short-term to fix the team and mid to long-term fix for the board. As @Sutton_blows_goats says, the board are only keeping Clement employed as it takes the fans focus away from them. Basically, he's their useful idiot.
  2. Hagi was trying, maybe even trying too hard in 2nd half. However, he was getting caught offside frequently in that 2nd half, don't know if its down to lack of pace?
  3. None of the above.
  4. We don't need to spend money for short-term improvements, we just need a coach who can coach the players in a system that will consistently win games and improve their fitness. Where have I ignored what's gone on in the past? The board have missmanged the club for years, that's as obvious to all who support Rangers. This mismanagement is both in recruitment and financial. The blame for where we are lies firmly at the door of the board. We can separate what is required "team wise" short-term from what is required "financially" medium to long-term. The board have once again chosen the incorrect manager (they have gotten 1 out of 5 correct since we got back into the SPL. They have also squandered untold millions on players, managers, other staff in those years as well as making some very costly financial mistakes. Given that, are we to expect them to suddenly start getting things correct? What signs are we seeing that we are getting better on and off the pitch? We are a mess from top to bottom and it's getting worse by the day. If I'm living in fairyland, you've got your head buried in the sand and are delusional if you believe the current incumbents (manager and board) are going to make us a force again.
  5. They are and it's the board that have gotten us where we are. They are solely to blame and only they can fix this. Given their recent decision making, it's hard to see how they will do this. That means more years of gross mismanagement. However, that doesn't excuse or detract from the fact that the manager is out of his depth. If the only reason the board are keeping him in the job is to deflect criticism from them, then it's further evidence that they are not fit for purpose.
  6. It does if your players approach the games correctly and are coached in a system that overruns lesser opponents. It's unrealistic to expect to win every game, but we've dropped 16 points this season. That's unacceptable no matter how you paint it.
  7. No, I knew we'd lose yesterday after 10mins - toy told me to put my handbag away as we'd win - who's living in fairyland? Any decent manager should be able to have us close to Celtic. Accepting and excusing being 12 points adrift at Christmas and dropping 16 points, that's living in fairyland.
  8. I'm not, and appear to be in the minority. If we were 3 points behind Celtic, we'd have a chance of going top on 2nd January. As it stands we will be at least 15 points behind - losing mentality breeds losers. Welcome to Rangers.
  9. The same thing Walter Smith did when he replaced PLG - signed two no nonsense centre half's and we suddenly stopped conceding goals. Not rocket science.
  10. I keep hearing that word "unrealistic". Is it unrealistic to expect Rangers to be beating the likes of St Mirren? Is it unrealistic to expect Rangers to not be so far behind Celtic in December? I'd say some are accepting it and others are excusing it. Either way, we appear to have lost the winning mentally that made the club what it is. The word we should be using when referring to Rangers at the moment (all levels) is incompetence.
  11. As I said, he had less to chose from. Clements OF record isn't anything to shout about 😀
  12. BF all the way 😀 Pedro was a farce but he had nothing to work with, Jon Toral says it all really 😀
  13. Wow..... really? Wow..... https://x.com/RangersReview55/status/1872383634453430715?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1872383634453430715|twgr^e20b2240f61082cb32b0d2db20e24c4ed125e3c6|twcon^s1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.followfollow.com%2Fforum%2Fthreads%2Fnobody-saw-that-one-coming-if-you-see-the-consistency-over-the-last-two-months.289275%2F
  14. Haha - it feels as bad as it did under Pedro (domestically). Pedro also had less to work with player wise.
  15. If we are accepting 2nd best, by the length of Sauchiehall Street, as some sort of achievement, then we are in bigger turmoil than even I thought. Clement actually got lucky in the final in that the obvious failure of VAR completely overshadowed out inability to beat them (again). We've taken notable scalps in Europe since Gerrard took over, we've consistently punched above our level, but it didn't save Gio, who arguably done wonders in Europe.
  16. I don't get this - why would we need vast investment to beat St Mirren? Do you honestly believe St Mirren have better players than we do? We just need to be coached better
  17. A very good point and one I've been making for a while. However, it's not the done thing to call out the current incompetent incumbents. They're all big Rangers men don't you know. They are squarely to blame for all the issues we currently have, and until they either get investment, hire the correct people (including the manager) and move the club on, we'll never be the top dogs in Scotland.
  18. Agreed, however its past the tipping point. This season has gone from a "transitional" season to a complete and utter disaster. Every likelihood we could be 18 points behind Celtic after the final whistle on Jan 2nd. No matter how we paint it, no matter the downsizing or the project, that is completely unacceptable (being 10 points behind after 2nd Jan is unacceptable).
  19. We did, just another appointment in a long line of incorrect appointments, which now includes Clement.
  20. That's the board's job to identify a better manager. Any decent manager should be able to get these players to beat St Mirren.
  21. There is no reason for him NOT to be sacked though. Downsizing isn't an excuse for losing 16 points this season. Nor is it an excuse for losing half our away games and being the 2nd lowest scorers away from home. Writing the season off doesn't or shouldn't excuse the above either. How does he magically turn it around next season, or the season after? 2nd best for the best part of the last 15 years, and likely to be 2nd best for the next 5-10 years unless something dramatic happens at our club. Having a manager who can beat the rest on a regular basis would be a start.
  22. That's the issue most of us have. The slight flicker of light and its a new dawn but in reality, its just a slight flicker. That's what happens when we have been so poor since Gerrard left and are desperate for a reversal of fortunes. The reality is we are now worse than at any time since Pedro, maybe even including Pedro. We can pin our hopes on Clement, the "project" but it'll be false hope. We need significant change both on and off the field before our fortunes change for the better. Many have now accepted the notion that we can't compete domestically, that being 2nd is something to celebrate. Clement has had enough time to improve us but instead he's making us worse. We'll hear the usual excuses for not sacking him, he'll stay and we'll finish 20 points behind Celtic
  23. Was at fault for the 1st goal, looked shaky all game and has regressed under Clement (and he's not alone there). Butland is a decent keeper, that's about it. The issue he / we have is that we've been blessed with magnificent keepers for decades.
  24. We shouldn't be dropping 13 points to teams outwith Celtic. The reality is we have and the manager needs to take responsibility for that.
