  1. Jamie has done really well in the 20's games he has played this season as have other Under 17's Liam Burt, Kyle Bradley and Zak Rudden.

It should be noted that the St.Mirren team included Kyle McAllister who is also 17 next month and was released by Sinclair. Goal scorer and 1st team regular Jack Baird and winger Lewis Morgan who has also featured in their first team are also both former Rangers players released by Sinclair.

Sinclair was told by ally that he wanted to see the boys before he let them go last season as he let a lot of good players leave the club.

  2. Warburton better not try the 3 centre backs farce again, like at Easter Rd. He has to just play Kiernan & Ball as Wilson has been terrible since his return to the club without an experienced partner to keep him right and a proper defensive midfielder to protect him. I hope he brings back Gasporatto next week from his loan spell as I read good things about him and think he is ready to come in. Got to be better than continuing to give game time to develop a loanee for Spurs benefit, and bring in an experienced organiser centre half to play alongside him.

In midfield we need to match up with 4 in here if we are to get anywhere. Holt & Halliday seem to be nailed on, so it should be a pick between Shiels, Law, McKay, Oduwa & Zelalem for the other two spots. I have been impressed with the little I have seen of Thompson, but he is clearly not going to come into the side on Monday.

Up front we need to play a twin strike force, and Waghorn will play so it is between Miller Clark & Hardie for the other starter. Not a great choice and I expect to be disappointed when I read Millers name in the line up. Waghorn has been isolated far too often up front on his own, and when he has drifted in search of the ball or space it has left nobody in a scoring position, so a second central striker should work better.

If Warburton sticks to his 4-3-3 and we play anything like we have done for the last 2 months, I fear we will not win. If he accepts his formation and tactics are not working with this current squad, we have a chance. The line up will tell us the managers thinking, and whatever formation and players get the nod on Monday, we better see them outfight Hibs all over the park as an absolute minimum and move the ball much much quicker than we have been doing. Those two things alone should be enough to win.

Gaspa is there till the end of the season

  3. It is vital we get our tactics & team selection right for the Hibz game. We need to start scoring more goals again.

The GK &back four ar more or less decided with the only decision being Ball or Wilson at CB.

In MF I'd like to see Haliday, Holt, Law & McKay out wide supplying two strikers. I'm no fan of Miller or Clark but they're all we've got at the moment. I've not seen enough of young Hardy to say whether he should play or not. We urgently need at least one top notch striker next month if we're to go up as champions.

I'd prefer Waghorn, Oduwa and Zalelam sat this one out. None are really contributing at the moment and I feel Law offers more of a goal threat than either Oduwa or Zalelam. Waghorn, despite the creditable number of goals so far,has shaded a bit and has become very much a hit or miss player at the moment. Mostly miss unfortunately.

Hibz are easily beatable. They're mediocre at best but they always look well-organised to me and if we do get our tactics & team selection right we will win.

You were doing well there rab until you said that you think waghorn should sit this one out. Are you mental? Lol he's the only one that looks capable of scoring. I think kiernan ball and Wilson will start and law has to start cos he's tougher than our lightweight's in the midfield..

  4. Personally I think our squad is so thin if any of our first team get injured were in trouble cos the step up from reserves is massive. If tav gets injured aird steps in (God help us) if wallace probably Ball. The two centre halves it will be kids. We've got cover for the midfield (law, shiels) waggy and McKay would be a massive loss. As much as I like Jordan Thompson he isn't tough enough. Everyone asks, is hardie good enough? Well never know until he starts a few games on the trot. I feel any of our kids stepping in will get overrun. But that's just my opinion....

  5. Merry Xmas to all the bears at gersnet. We've laghed we've cried and we've moaned every week since the magic hat and big davie has turned our club around. So make sure your all wrapped up for the hibs game cos I'll be sitting watching it in the Bluebells bar in teguise. Have a happy but safe new year...

  6. The ref was crap giving them a penalty in the 3rd minute when it was obvious to everyone the foul was outside the box...then trying to 'make up' for his howler by giving Rangers a penalty in injury time..he must have been looking for that opportunity for the whole of the second half?

At least Rangers with all their dignity intact will not be calling for 'sackings' and causing 'ref strikes' and all that!

Did anyone not notice grants leg breaker on shiels in the box? Stonewaller if there ever was one. Plus who can ever forget the penalty colum gave us at the piggery when broadfoot went down like a ton of bricks lol

  7. Can't say I saw much of Aird for months, he's 20and has been in and out of the time like their is no tomorrow. Our u20s-reporter might be the best to describe his recent form and performances.

EDIT: I liked what I saw from Thompson though, and I asssume that W&W simply deem him a little too young to be a starter right now.

Aird came to us as a forward/midfielder ally played him on the right wing cos the lad does have a good engine in him just like Crawford but they weren't good enough in our eyes but ally continued to play him but to say now he's tavs understudy at right back is sheer lunacy to me. I saw Ryan sinnamon not that long ago and he had a great game at right back. We need defenders in defending positions not forwards. Since Walter came back we seem to have played players out of position and ally kept it going...

  8. If think back to the first 10 or so games we were scoring for fun by overloading the opponents box, why have we stopped?no coincidence the goals have somewhat dried up lately.

The reason they've dried up is other teams have done their homework and whilst we're (tav & lee) are in the opposition box the teams are hitting us on the break down tavs side and scoring for fun. Kill the game first it's not rocket science..

  9. That's true - however I think Tavernier is a useful player but just needs to understand better when to bomb forward and when to cover. He's also suffering from a lack of confidence at the moment - as well as constant changes in personnel in front of him.

I'd argue that the manager has to select a right sided forward and stick with them - be it Miller, Oduwa or Waghorn.

As I've said before Frankie, this defence is about ten goals better off than last year's defence at this stage. Taverniers form plummeted when he was talking about beating John Greig's record of goals from a full back. It became an obsession he would stay up for long periods leaving the defending to Kiernan and other teams have seen this and attacked us down our right hand side and very seldom our left....

  10. Happy Birthday Johnny.

My first game at Ibrox Hubbard (Pen) scored with guess what?

I took penalties in the playground for weeks after that, just because I had seen the penalty king take one.

He was just before my time CB but Johnny and the "white rhino" certainty made their mark on Scottish fitbaw....

  11. For sure the squad has to be strengthened if that means getting in older than our babes so be it as it looks like some of them are faltering after too many games.

It is all right bringing youngsters through but not at the expense of results as recently.

Plus with the grounds heavy going at this time of year I fear some of our lightweight youngsters won't have the stamina....
