  1. You want Rangers to be remembered like Tommy Burn's Celtic rather than the NIAR Rangers team? I doubt many will be with you on that. You would have preferred Mowbray and his football philosophy to Smith and three in a row and a UEFA final too? Here's a quote: "Rangers like the big strong powerful fellows, with a bit of strength and solidity in the tackle, rather than the frivolous, quick moving stylists like Jimmy Johnstone, small, tiptoe-throughs the tulips type of players who excite people." - Willie Waddell, Rangers manager 1972 I think you are supporting the wrong team... Funny new definition of a glory hunter - wanting your team to win the league...
  2. Ah, but McGowan isn't in it for the money...
  3. I don't think that many businessmen will sack a manager who gets the required results. You are entitled to your viewpoint but you'll hopefully be aware that it's a pretty extreme one, and one I would bet a lot of money on you not applying to yourself. Ally's task is to win the league, if he succeeds, his job is likely to be safe. You don't berate a high jumper for clearing the bar but not doing it with enough margin or enough style. When you clear it, you have done what is required. What then happens is that the bar is raised - and this will happen for McCoist next season if he wins - and so on until it can go no higher.
  4. I think there is a limit to how "fit" you can get any team. You can only train them so much. However, some people have more athletic ability than others. You can train as much as Bolt or Farah but that doesn't mean you will keep up with them. In any sport that requires athleticism, the best will be among the most athletic. Top teams are "fitter" as they have exceptional athletes with natural ability that surpasses everyone else. Barcelona were presumably a lot "fitter" than our supposedly poor trained players under Walter, and yet they didn't seem to have a concept of how to make it tell. It took an illegal goal scored with an arm to break us. You seem to vary your standards and your arguments to suit you...
  5. Weren't Malmo called postmen when there was some Ally bashing to be done?
  6. This is a very messed up post. Bill Struth predicted bad times and advised us to be ready for it and preached "tolerance and sanity". As far as I can see the minimum standards expected on this forum is winning the league, what is your problem with that?
  7. How come when it's Rangers, according to your lot, those type of champions are are called, "pub teams" whether they have internationals or not? BTW Most postmen I know are pretty slim and fit without doing much exercise outside their work. Seems like a good job to enhance your stamina. We're comparing a top Italian club, who with the strong Euro, get 49k fans on average and Premiership type TV money - they turnover £190m. In the last five years they have spent an average of about £40m a year on players. BATE's, who with the Ruble, average 8k fans in Belarus and spend is about £400k on average on players. For the Everton game they charged about £6 a ticket. It's funny that when I play your game, the rules suddenly change.
  8. You think we're equal to AC Milan? You think the only fair comparison is if Milan come to Div 3 and not draw a few games? Sorry but I think your comparison is crazy. We've nothing like the spending Milan have, I thought you'd know that. My comparison is that Milan's best player is probably getting more money than BATE's whole team, which is how people are comparing Rangers with division 3 teams. The financial gap is large in both cases. How is that crazy?
  9. So you're conceding your argument doesn't hold true at a general level so are now narrowing it down to only full time vs part time?
  10. What can a company do to influence investigations into the past finances of a different company at a time when the first company didn't even exist? It may be going ahead but partaking in it will not help and only give it a false credibility.
  11. Just found another example for last season: APOEL Nicosia Cyp Zenit St. Petersburg Rus 2-1 0-0 Shakhtar Donetsk Ukr APOEL Nicosia Cyp 1-1 2-0 FC Porto Por APOEL Nicosia Cyp 1-1 1-2 Olympique Lyon Fra APOEL Nicosia Cyp 1-0 0-1 Penalty shootout: APOEL Nicosia - Olympique Lyon 4 - 3 APOEL average attendance: 8,248 More sackings...
  12. PS Other notable results for BATE Paris St Germain 2-2 0-0 AZ Alkmaar 4-1 0-3 Dynamo Kiev 2-2 1-4 Everton 1-2 1-0 Zenit St. Petersburg 1-1 0-2 Juventus 2-2 0-0 Anderlecht 2-1 2-2 Villarreal 1-4 2-0 Bologna 0-2 0-0 Sturm Graz 1-1, 2-0 AEK Athens 2-1 2-2 Levski Sofia 1-0 1-1 Looks like a lot of managers need to be sacked. Or maybe we need to sign up their manager and whole team...
  13. All sounds very well but it doesn't tend to happen all the time in practice. Here's a couple of results from last year's Cl: AC Milan Ita Viktoria Plzen Cze 2-0 2-2 AC Milan Ita BATE Borisov Bls 2-0 1-1 Should Mssimiliano Allegri be sacked? You really think that you are realistic?
  14. That's the first time I've seen a journalist "get" the real situation. He'll get the pelters from Celtic fans... The Traynor one that is.
  15. I must be in a different world, you're saying we've lost every game this season? If you're going to put up an argument to sack a manager, can you at least stick to reality? I really don't know why you think this kind of stuff will persuade anyone...
  16. The massive flaw in your argument is that you're talking about one of the world's richest teams with a good chunk of the world's best players. How many teams play as well as Barcelona? So how are we supposed to do it at Rangers when there are hundreds of clubs with far more money than us that can afford far better players can't do it? To show it's even possible at Rangers you have to show a plethora of clubs doing it at our lowly level - or even a few divisions above. There are 11 teams in the SPL of a similar level to us, that's ELEVEN. Name two that you'd like us to play like? Or choose a team from FORTY EIGHT in League One and Two in England that we should emulate. Come on, it should be easy the way you talk, surely out of those 59 teams, there is a manager who has his team playing like Barcelona? I'll even give you a team with much more resources than us and far more than the rest in their league - Celtic. Would playing like them make you happy? It's easy to say we should be playing like Barcelona, but it looks a bit optimistic when you realise that out of all the teams in the world, 99.999% of them don't - and I'd bet almost all of them would like to. I think you'd be a happier person if you just supported Barcelona as your flair team that you watch religiously and Rangers as your "hope they win" team for which you just look for the results and league position.
  17. I'll be happy to win the league - you can't finish better than first place even if you win every game 10-0. There is a task to be completed here, muddying it with arbitrary goals of largess is only going to detract from successful completion of the task. I really think you need to look up the word, "fact" in the dictionary. Your assertion that Ally is a crap manager is opinion at best but it seems more of an entrenched position for you. For you it has little to do with facts and pretty much ignores them. I give you unadulterated facts which cannot be logically disputed no matter what your opinion is and your answer is to say you don't want to know - I would suggest you are the one with your head in the sand. My opinion is that I don't know if Ally is a good manager or not, I don't think I have enough facts to come to a conclusion. I'm telling you this AGAIN but I have doubts you'll get your head out of the sand to hear and understand it.
  18. "Someone I agree with should never be banned no matter how abusive he is - it's discrimination, we're being persecuted and the establishment are out to get us and get rid of us all!" Now who does that sound like? Instead of wondering why it's Ally Bashers that are getting banned, we should maybe wonder why those who are deservedly banned for their abuse and nothing to do with their opinion all seem to be Ally Bashers... The next question is why all the people who are bleating that they shouldn't be banned are also Ally Bashers? And why do the same ones act like they are being persecuted? Anyway, it makes no difference to me, I had the guy on my ignore list, looks like I made a good decision.
  19. I think it's good to know the height of the bar before you try to jump over it. Can't see your problem with that. Seems some people have a problem with real, objective facts and real truth rather than extreme opinion pretending to be such.
  20. Should be able to check their accounts for employee trust payments.
  21. I think one thing that Celtic have in their favour is that they only had one EBT therefore when the accounts are disclosed his second payment is transparent. Whereas ours were a total of all the payments and so individual payments were not disclosed. They have probably found a couple of incidental technicalities that allow them to get off while we can be hammered. That's why they are going ahead with it. I'd bet it would have been dropped otherwise.
  22. This, to me, is a bit of a twilight zone post, but let's look at it at face value. To be brutally honest, if you gave my former 12 year old self a glimpse of the future and showed my vehicles to be a family car and company van I think I'd be gutted. It might be your ambition and taste but I'd struggle with seeing that meet my aspirations at the time. A C- would be pushing it. However, if you showed me my current convertible, coupe and sports motorbike I'd be ecstatic - easily an A+. But I don't really see it as some amazing achievement, just a matter of choice. It certainly doesn't make me feel like I can judge others' level of success against it. The worrying part of your post is, considering your treatment of McCoist, what would you be like if your family wasn't so beautiful and intelligent? What if your kids didn't quite meet your lofty standards? But in the end, for all we know you could be single, childless, renting a flat and have no car or van. The truth is that the only standard you can really display on here is your writing. Sorry, but to be brutally honest, in that regard, your standards don't impress. Maybe you just need to find the shift key... I'm not having a go at your writing, but I am having a go at your double standards and blindness to your own imperfections. If you're going to talk the talk you should at least walk the walk...
  23. Just checked and I believe that the mean points total of the 3rd division winners for the last four seasons was exactly 72 points. The highest was 78. To achieve this and almost guarantee automatic promotion, you can drop 30 points. That's 15 away draws from 18. Looks like it only takes one win in six as long as you win all your home games and draw the rest of the away games.
  24. Strange reply seeing as mine was completely objective and could apply to any team. I didn't think I'd have to spell it out but here we go. Winning all home games and drawing all away games means accumulating 72 points which will easily get you a play off spot. Last season that would have been second place by a large margin. The semi finals are always two legged affairs which of course you'd progress due to winning at home and drawing away. Now I wasn't sure about the final but it seems it's also two legs which would make promotion a certainty. However, even if it was at a neutral ground, and that is pessimisticly considered an away game, then another draw is on the cards. So a team with a 100 percent extra time winning record away would also be promoted. I believe that logic is pretty sound and not affected by any tint of any colour or favour.
  25. Is it the case that if Rangers take the SPL to court, UEFA could ban their teams from competing in European competitions? Wouldn't that be hilarious?
