The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

Rangers still have cash to splash insists Stewart Robertson as Daniel Candeias fee is revealed The Ibrox managing director admits Steven Gerrard still has money to spend if he wants it. Stewart Robertson revealed funds are still available to boost Steven Gerrard’s Rangers squad. The Ibrox managing director insists the board have not finished their spending if the manager identifies new targets. He also claims the club are in no rush to cash in on prized assets such as Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier, even if they are looking to increase their income in time from player sales. Robertson was speaking as Daniel Candeias completed his move to Turkish side Genclerbirligi on a two-year deal for a fee believed to be around £250,000. Rangers have forked out more than £6million this summer on deals that include £650,000 for George Edmundson and £3.5m for Filip Helander, while costs associated with Joe Aribo’s transfer from Charlton were approximately £2m. Gerrard is eyeing a ninth summer signing and Robertson, re-elected to the SPFL board yesterday, pledged he’ll continue to be supported financially. He said: “It is down to the guys identifying who they might want to bring in and bringing that to the board but, absolutely, funds are available. “I am not saying it will be this window or the next, but at some point there has to be transfer income built into the business model. “If you look at clubs at our level in the European Club Association, the average percentage of revenue that comes from transfers is 28 per cent. “Last year ours was about seven per cent. “If we are to compete on a level playing field without relying on the investors and the board, that is a key part of the business model, as well as bringing players through the academy.” Rangers have told players such as Kyle Lafferty, Graham Dorrans, Eros Grezda, Jason Holt and Joe Dodoo they are all surplus to requirements but so far have not attracted buyers. Robertson added: “The manager has been quite open - the squad is bigger than that which would allow everyone game time. “Therefore, some of the boys will want to get it elsewhere. We are working with a couple of players at the moment to see if they can get something with other clubs. “Signing players is a bit like picking shares. You hope you will get them all right but you don’t tend to. “There is an element of portfolio approach and you just have to hope you don’t make too many mistakes. “It’s very difficult when you sign players because they might be coming from a foreign country, with or without their family. So there can be questions about how their family settles. “Some of the unknowns can be the things that trip someone up and that’s why it might not work in certain cases.” Robertson has returned to the SPFL board after Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell stepped down, in a pattern now established between the Old Firm clubs. He said: “Clubs are more collegiate and there are more conversations going on than previously. “As a result, it is maybe less important to be on the board than it was three or four years ago. Scottish football is actually in as stable a position as it has been for some time.” Robertson was speaking as Rangers launched their new campaign, ‘Everywhere Anywhere, Everyone Anyone’ aimed at united the different communities supporting the club. He added: “It is 2019. We want to have a modern football club and make sure that everyone feels welcome when they come to Ibrox regardless of race, religion or sexuality. It is the right thing to do.” https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-still-cash-splash-insists-18652844?2 -

All joking aside, I would rather keep him for another season, if he is successful again he will be worth even more -
I hear you, however I see it as giving money to the club so I will buy it as I can't make it to the match

I was sceptical when we signed him, yet trusted SG, and I have to say what a professional he is and still knows his way to goal, his fitness is not in question. What I am wondering is, when does his contract run out with Bournemouth? and is he someone we should be looking to sign again if he is a free agent? can we afford him?., and would the majority of Rangers fans want to sign him?. I would like to see him play next season again depending on the wages!!.

Both need to stay if we are to seriously challenge for the title, selling our best players won't win us the title.
