  1. Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty have been charged by the Scottish FA after both were sent to the stand during last week's defeat by Celtic. Docherty was dismissed at half-time and has accepted a one-match touchline ban for misconduct. McInnes was sent off after making a gesture towards Celtic fans during the Scottish Cup semi-final. He has until Thursday to respond to the charge with a hearing set for 3 May. The former Rangers player said he had been targeted with sectarian abuse at Hampden. "I had let it go the first time but I shouldn't react and I'll take my punishment," he said. "I was wrong to do so, I should be better than that." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47989827
  2. SOU BAD Smith ‘overruled by SFA board’ when he wanted Rangers idol Souness as Scotland boss The former SFA chief executive claims his plans were scuppered when Hampden blazers vetoed the move for Graeme Souness and opted for George Burley instead. GORDON SMITH has revealed he was overruled by the SFA board when he tried to appoint Graeme Souness - with George Burley ending up in the hot seat. The organisation’s former chief executive wanted the Rangers and Liverpool legend to lead the national team after Alex McLeish left for Birmingham. But his plans were scuppered when Hampden blazers vetoed the move for Souness and instead backed a swoop for Burley, who was with Southampton at the time. The ex-Hearts gaffer had a disastrous spell as Scotland boss and the infamous Boozegate scandal happened on his watch. Smith told Open Goal’s Si Ferry: “I thought I was able to choose the manager being the chief executive but I wasn’t. “George Burley was one of my candidates but not my first choice. “It would’ve been Graeme Souness. He came along for an interview. “But it went to the board…it was basically that he didn’t conform to what they were wanting. “So George Burley became the strong candidate. He’d done well at Hearts and he was now with Southampton.” But the other contenders for the post were left furious when it was leaked to the media that Burley was to become Scotland manager. Smith said: “I hadn’t even informed the others because if I couldn’t agree a fee for George Burley [with Southampton], that was ruling him out. “Unfortunately what happened was the press got word, it was leaked out and the other candidates were annoyed by the fact they hadn’t been told they weren’t getting it.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4143832/graeme-souness-gordon-smith-rangers-sfa-scotland-open-goal/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1555690867

  5. Vanguard Bears join protest against 'Protestant discrimination' by Glasgow City Council A RANGERS fan group is to join protests against Glasgow City Council following claims that the council discriminates against Protestants. The Vanguard Bears shared a post announcing their intention to join a planned demonstration on April 27 organised by the Scottish Protestants Against Discrimination (SPAD). It comes after the council made the decision to reroute a planned parade involving the Apprentice Boys of Derry which had planned to pass St Alphonsus church, were parish priest Cannon Tom White was spat at during an Orange Walk last year. Taking to Twitter to announce the move, the Vanguard Bears wrote: "Meet at 12.30pm on April 27 at George Square, Glasgow to protest against discrimination of our culture. "Enough is enough." The statement from the SPAD said: "The decision taken yesterday by Glasgow City Council and Police Scotland is a clear attack on the Culture and Beliefs of the Protestant people of Scotland and in doing so have created a 'No Go Area' for Protestants. "The right to assemble in a public place is a key civil and political right, and as such the state has a positive obligation to protect and facilitate and the exercise of that right." The protest will take place outside the city chambers. A spokesman for GCC branded the claims a "fundamental misunderstanding". He said: “This is a fundamental misunderstanding of the legislation on public processions. “There is no such thing as a no-go area for any organisation. In reality, a procession passed the site in question earlier this year. Read more: Man charged after Glasgow Old Firm brawl “In the case of the event planned for Easter Sunday, our Public Processions Committee heard evidence from Police Scotland that there was a significant potential for serious disorder if the procession went ahead on its intended route. "This was based on intelligence relating to protests and counter-protests on the day.” https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/17583393.vanguard-bears-join-protest-against-protestant-discrimination-by-glasgow-city-council/

  7. HALF MEASURES Kilmarnock fans ‘feel intimidated’ when Celtic and Rangers visit Rugby Park… that’s why we’re cutting allocation, says Billy Bowie THE Killie chief revealed Old Firm fans will have their allocations cut for future matches at Rugby Park after it was announced yesterday that Gers will be handed just 4,000 briefs for the final game of the season BILLY BOWIE has vowed to slash ALL future ticket allocations for Old Firm fans at Rugby Park. Kilmarnock announced yesterday that Rangers will be handed just 4,000 briefs for the final league game of the season - half of their normal amount. Rangers hit back by threatening to take less tickets for future games - a move which would hit Killie in the pocket. But the Ayrshire club's supremo Bowie confirmed the measures will be permanent in a bid to improve the matchday experience for families at Rugby Park. And he revealed the decision was taken to cut both Glasgow duo's ticket share after Celtic's last visit in February - when Kris Boyd was struck by a coin and punters spilled onto the pitch to celebrate Scott Brown's late winner. He told the Daily Record: “We have spoken to our own supporters about it and there is a feeling that they are intimidated when the Old Firm sides come to Rugby Park. “So we have decided what we want to do is create an environment for them on match days where they feel absolutely safe. We want them to feel comfortable bringing their families to any Kilmarnock game and that has not always been the case. “After the last game against one of the Old Firm, we realised this was something that we had to discuss. We have had a lot of talks about it and this is the way we have decided to handle things going forward. “We are creating a fan zone behind the Moffat Stand with a nine aside football pitch and we want Kilmarnock supporters and their families to come along and enjoy the whole matchday experience. “We won’t be able to do that If we are giving that stand away to visiting supporters. So this is the decision we have made. "We want to celebrate what our own club has achieved on the last day of the season but this is the model we plan to use going forward.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4133032/kilmarnock-intimidated-celtic-rangers/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1555483517
  8. GERS WARNING Rangers threaten to take less tickets for Kilmarnock’s Rugby Park next season Killie chiefs have decided to halve Rangers' away ticket allocation for the final game of the season - enraging the club and supporters RANGERS have threatened to take less tickets to Rugby Park next season after their away allocation was slashed. The Old Firm are usually given both the Chadwick and Moffat stands when they visit Ayrshire. But Kilmarnock announced today that Gers' allocation will be halved for the final game of the season. The decision has enraged Ibrox fans and now the club have sent out a warning to Killie for future matches. A Rangers spokesperson said: "We are disappointed with the decision, which will force us to consider carefully what application we will seek for future matches at Rugby Park". 9. Ex-Rangers chief Craig Whyte’s Sevco firm win legal fees in Gers £5m buy-out deal court battle The former owner's ex-firm Sevco 5088 were 'deprived of the opportunity' to buy Gers back in 2011 when Charles Green's Sevco Scotland swooped. EX-Rangers chief Craig Whyte's former company has been awarded legal fees by a London judge over the Gers buy-out deal in 2012. Sevco 5088 was created by Whyte in a bid to purchase the Glasgow club. The tycoon had originally used Wavetower firm to buy the Light Blues from Sir David Murray in 2011 for just £1 before the financial trouble in February 2012. However as Whyte entered into talks under Sevco 5088, the firm claim they were "deprived of the opportunity" to make the purchase when another company - Sevco Scotland - was set up by one of its directors to buy Gers instead. Charles Green is alleged to have moved more than £5million from 5088 into Sevco Scotland to buy the Glasgow outfit. Former finance chief at Ibrox, Imran Ahmad, is alleged to have helped Mr Green buy the club from administrators while it is claimed he was acting as a "de facto director" of Sevco Scotland. He denies these claims. Mr Ahmad is understood to have snubbed letters from Sevco 5088's legal team until a London judge backed the former's claims in the £5.1million suit. After he submitted a statement outlining why he should not repay the cash, this was accepted late by Deputy Master Andrew Bartlett QC - but legal team fees were ordered to be paid. Daily Record report that Bartlett said during his judgement: "This case concerns the transfer of the Rangers Football Club in 2012. "There is no doubt that Sevco Scotland operated the club. "The claimant’s case in simple terms is that this was a theft of the opportunity to acquire the club from it – which was prepared by Mr Green and Mr Ahmed and that Mr Green and Mr Ahmad simply diverted this opportunity to a different company and deprived the claimant of it." An initial £32,000 fee was suggested but it is understood that amount will be reduced. Craig Whyte is no longer involved with Sevco 5088 and therefore not an active participant of the case. Aidan Earley, Douglas Ware, Henderson and Jones Ltd and Law Financial Ltd are current directors of Sevco 5088. We recently told how Craig Whyte's lawyer Paul Kavanagh claimed the ex-chief could sue over the Ibrox fraud case. Mr Whyte, 48, was cleared at the High Court in Glasgow of taking over Rangers by fraud following a trial. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/4129054/rangers-craig-whyte-sevco-legal-fees-court/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1555409662
  10. Ibrox bosses accused of breaching kit deal with firm The latest round of a long-running battle between the sides has started at the High Court in London. THE latest round of a court battle between Rangers bosses and Mike Ashley's sports direct over merchandise sales has started in London. Lawyers representing a company in the Sports Direct Group say Ibrox chiefs are in breach of obligations under a deal relating to replica kit. They claim SDI Retail Services are having to bring "serial court proceedings". Rangers bosses dispute claims made against them. Last year a judge ruled that Ibrox bosses had breached the terms of an agreement made with a company in the Sports Direct group. Mr Justice Teare concluded that they had made a new agreement with another firm, the Elite Group, without giving Sports Direct managers a chance to match that company's offer. He said Rangers had lost and would therefore pick up all lawyers' bills run up during that fight - a total of more than £400,000. Now a judge has started to oversee the latest in a series of hearings at the High Court in London. Judge Lionel Persey is due to finish analysing evidence later this week. Mr Ashley, who also owns Newcastle United, wasn't at the hearing. Rangers lost a round of the fight in October. Another judge ruled that Rangers had breached the terms of an agreement made with SDI. Mr Justice Teare concluded that bosses at Rangers had made a new agreement with another firm without giving SDI a chance to match that firm's offer. SDI bosses have subsequently made further complaints about Rangers not complying with commercial obligations. Barrister Sa'ad Hossain QC, who is leading SDI's legal team, outlined the history of the dispute to Judge Persey and listed five sets of proceedings. He said another company was continuing to sell replica kit, contrary to a deal. "SDI is having to compel Rangers to comply with its obligations through serial court proceedings," he said. "Rangers seems unwilling to do so voluntarily." Ben Quiney QC, who leads Rangers' legal team, said "key battlegrounds" revolved around a disagreement over the definition of certain commercial "activities". He said a main dispute centred on the meaning of "distributing". Mr Quiney told the judge: "SDI have put their case too wide and it doesn't make sense." https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/4126323/rangers-mike-ashleys-sports-direct-ibrox-bosses-merchandise-breaching-kit-deal/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1555339291
