RANGERS say the SFA must deal with sectarian abuse aimed at Steven Gerrard by Aberdeen fans. Some Dons supporters were heard at full-time chanting the bigoted ‘Cheer up…’ song at the Gers gaffer and taunting him with the vile ‘sad Orange b*****d’ lyrics. It comes a week after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned clubs to sort out fans’ sectarian behaviour or her Government will step in. A Gers spokesperson said: “The match delegate is aware of sectarian chants from some Aberdeen fans and it is up to the SFA to deal with that.” SunSport has asked Aberdeen for comment. For decades fans have put a sectarian slant on The Monkees’ classic Daydream Believer to taunt opposing players and managers. Last month Rangers-daft funnyman Andy Cameron, 79, blasted those who unleashed the bigoted version of the ‘Cheer up…’ chorus at their rivals. Anti-sectarian charity Nil by Mouth have also hit out the abusive song aimed at Gerrard last night. In a tweet earlier today, they said: "Depressing to hear reports of more sectarian abuse at football last night. "This time directed toward Rangers manager Steven Gerrard. Pathetic to turn up at a game to spout this crap." Meanwhile, Union Bears leader Ross McGill has hit back at the Gers fans who blasted the fan group for their latest silent protest. The Light Blues ‘ultras’ are embroiled in a dispute with Ibrox chiefs over seating arrangements. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/3992375/rangers-sfa-sectarian-abuse-steven-gerrard/

BOSSES at Rangers Football Club have lost the latest round of a High Court fight with Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley centred on merchandise deals. A judge was asked to rule on a disagreement over the meaning of terms of agreements between Rangers and a company in the Sports Direct Group. Sir Ross Cranston on Wednesday said he had ruled in favour of SDI Retail Services. He said he had made declarations, on the meaning of parts of agreements, "along the lines sought by SDI". The judge analysed legal argument at a High Court hearing in London in February. Rangers also lost a round of the fight in October. Another judge ruled that Rangers had breached the terms of an agreement made with SDI. Mr Justice Teare concluded that bosses at Rangers had made a new agreement with another firm, the Elite Group, without giving SDI a chance to match that firm's offer. SDI bosses have made further complaints relating to other agreements involving Rangers and Elite, and Rangers and Hummel. Rangers bosses dispute claims made against them. Another hearing is due to take place in April. Decisions about damages which Rangers might have to pay could be made after that hearing. https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/17497933.rangers-lose-latest-round-of-merchandise-fight-with-sports-direct-boss-mike-ashley/

Alfred Morelos is 'future of football in Colombia' as Rangers striker is hailed by Carlos Queiroz The striker is named in the squad to face Japan and South Korea and Queiroz is clearly a big fan. Alfredo Morelos has been hailed as the future by new Colombia boss Carlos Queiroz after he handed him an international recall. The Rangers striker is in the South American country's squad for the matches against Japan and South Korea. And Rangers will be desperately hoping he gets through the games unscathed ahead of the game against Celtic days later at the end of March. Former Real Madrid and Portugal manager Queiroz has made it clear he's a big fan of Morelos after including him ahead of £30 million Villarreal striker Carlos Bacca, who has 52 caps. He said: "It was a difficult call to name the squad because we have so many talented players. "I called up Alfredo Morelos because he is in very good form for Rangers as you can see with the number of goals he has scored. "I wanted to give Alfredo a chance. He's young and is the future of football in Colombia. "Carlos Bacca is not out of my plans at all, but I wanted to take a good look at Alfredo in these games. I haven't closed the door on Carlos. "I need to look to the future and Alfredo is young and represents that." https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alfred-morelos-future-football-colombia-14121858

The whistler failed to spot a foul on James Tavernier in the build up to the Hibees goal REFEREE Steven McLean phoned Steven Gerrard to apologise for missing the foul that led to Hibs’ equaliser last Friday night. The official blundered by failing to award Rangers a free-kick when Stephane Omeonga tripped up James Tavernier. Hibs broke upfield with striker Florian Kamberi netting an equaliser — to leave Gerrard absolutely fuming. SunSport can reveal the Ibrox gaffer went to see McLean at Easter Road and ask for an explanation with the whistler vowing to study the TV footage. Having done so, McLean contacted Gerrard to admit he got it wrong. Refs’ chief John Fleming is also believed to have been critical of McLean and assistants, Graham Chambers and Stuart Stevenson. Gerrard referred to the decision again and said: “Without that decision, we win the game 1-0 and you are talking about another tough win away from home.” Meanwhile, Gers keeper Allan McGregor has announced his retirement from the Scotland national team. The experienced stopper had 42 caps for his country before deciding to call time on his international career. Scotland assistant James McFadden was gutted to lose the keeper, as he revealed Alex McLeish had tried to talk McGregor out of the decision. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/3984509/ref-steven-mclean-rangers-steven-gerrard-hibs/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1552343608
