Palestine ambassador given VIP tour of Celtic Park as he thanks fans for ‘unwavering support for our cause’ Hoops supporters raised £176,000 for Palestinian charities in 2016 after the Scottish champions were fined by Uefa for a huge fan-demonstration against Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva. A PALESTINE ambassador was given a VIP tour of Celtic Park as he thanked Hoops fans for their incredible crowdfunding efforts three years ago. Dr Husam Zomlot touched down in Scotland this week for the first time since taking his new role as Palestine's head of mission to the UK. In 2016, the Scottish champions were fined £8,000 for a huge pro-Palestine fan demonstration against Israeli outfit Hapoel Beer Sheva. But the charge was dwarfed by the £176,000 raised online for Middle East charities in a bid by fans to match what they thought would be a far harder hit. And Mr Zomlot paid homage to the extraordinary sum raised by thanking the club and its supporters today during a trip to the stadium. A tweet from the Palestine in the UK Twitter account read: "H.E. Dr @hzomlot visited today @CelticFC to deliver a message of thanks from the Palestinian people to the club and Celtic fans for #Palestine for their wholehearted and unwavering support for our cause. #YoullNeverWalkAlone". The Celtic fans campaign was backed by Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters in 2016, who played a montage of pictures of the Green Brigade waving Palestinian flags during one of his packed out concerts. The music icon said at the time: "Thousands of Celtic supporters turned up, they carried Palestinian flags and banners. “Uefa, in its incredible imbecility decided to fine Celtic for that display of inappropriate images and banners. “So the supporters banded together, great Glaswegians that they are, and said, ‘We’re not having that’ “They started a fund that was called ‘match the fine’ and they distributed it to Palestinian charities. “Good on you Celtic supporters, I’m an Arsenal supporter myself, but in this particular instance I’m with you all the way.” Meanwhile the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Eva Bolander, also met up with Mr Zomlot during the first part of his Scotland visit. She tweeted: "Pleasure to welcome the UK's #Palestinian Ambassador Dr Husam Zomlot @hzomlot to the City Chambers on the first leg of his Scottish tour where we talked about the twinning arrangement between Glasgow and Bethlehem and our future plans. #twincities". https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/3968025/palestine-ambassador-celtic-park-vip-tour/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1551980538

RANGERS are poised to snap up Motherwell starlet Jake Hastie on a four-year deal. SunSport can reveal the Ibrox side are close to tying up Hastie, 19, on a pre-contract. Well had hoped to hold on to their highly-rated wide man, whose deal is up this summer, and had made their best offer to keep him. But Gers boss Steven Gerrard has moved swiftly to entice the player, who has burst on to the scene in stunning fashion during 2019. If the deal is completed it’s likely that Liverpool legend Gerrard’s presence in the Ibrox dugout will have been the decisive factor. But Well won’t be left out of pocket if the move goes ahead. Hastie has been in the club’s academy since 2009, meaning Well will be due a chunky development fee. Incredibly, Hastie only made his first start for Motherwell on January 23, having spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Championship strugglers Alloa Athletic. Since then he’s quickly settled into Stephen Robinson’s side, netting four goals in five games. Hastie has also landed his first Scotland Under-21 call-up for the friendlies against Mexico and Sweden later this month. Robinson has maintained it would be best for Hastie’s future to stay at the club, while the player himself also said he saw his future at Fir Park. But his all-action style and running power, allied to his goalscoring ability, saw sides start to circle as talks between Well and Hastie hit the buffers. Celtic, Middlesbrough, Derby, Millwall and Hull were all among the clubs who were keeping tabs. But it looks like Gers are now on the verge of beating them all to secure Hastie’s signature. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/3969121/rangers-motherwell-jake-hastie/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1551998060

Ray McKinnon reckons Zak Rudden has the talent to make the grade with Steven Gerrard at Ibrox. The striker has already hit 11 while on loan at the Bairns this seasonHe hit another in Friday night’s televised match with Morton, and having just turned 19 last month, Ray McKinnon believes he has a special talent on his hands. He said: “Zak has been excellent for a young kid and he’s only going to get better as he gets older. He still has a lot to learn but his contribution has been phenomenal – his work rate, his goals, he’s a great kid around the dressing room – he has everything.”And Rangers style will suit him too. If he can net 11 in a struggling Bairns side, then with more chances created by the Ibrox side, he should find the net more frequently, the boss believes.McKinnon added: “He will prove himself over the next two years make no bones about it. “I honestly think he can make it at Rangers. He is an out and out goal scorer and has a fantastic work rate but he comes alive in the box. but I also think that every Falkirk fan will appreciate the work He does for the team out with the box as well. the fans appreciate that here and we as a staff do too. “But when he is in a team which will dominate possession for 70 minutes like Rangers probably do and they’re playing in someone else’s box a lot of the time then that will make him a real handful for teams because he will score. “He goes about his business in the right manner and has been fantastic for Falkirk Football Club.”It’s not the first time the boss has praised the 19-year-old, and he’s not the only one either. Captain Jordan McGhee paid tribute to the striker after the Morton draw, where Rudden’s header five minutes before half-time levelled the scores“Zak has been brilliant. He is different class and a fox in the box in many ways“You can tell he has been brought up at a good level at a good team at Rangers. His movement is brilliant and his finishing is great for us and especially for him at such a young age. “He’s a good boy to have around as well, if he gets a chance at Rangers I think he will do well.” And after the game McKinnon was asked about him too. “The nkid is unbelievable and is a goalscoring machine. But when he matures he’ll be a sensational football player. He’s so sharp and reads situations, but his work-rate and desire is there and inside the box he’s frightening. “He’s only 19 years old but he’s leading our line at Falkirk, and that’s credit to him.”Read more at: https://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/spo...ake-it-at-rangers-says-falkirk-boss-1-4884935

Aberdeen fan chief hits out at Rangers ticket allocation for Scottish Cup replay at Ibrox Dons supporters won't receive a bigger allocation for the quarter-final tie due to crowd safety concerns ABERDEEN fans have been left raging at their small Ibrox allocation for next week’s Scottish Cup replay. The Dons have been given just 972 tickets for the match – the normal amount for away supporters. But Scottish Cup rules state that they are entitled to up to 10,000 briefs for the match, with Ibrox holding 50,000 seats. However after talks with Police Scotland, Rangers informed Reds chiefs that they would not be given an increased allocation. Gers were handed less than 2,000 tickets for Sunday’s game at Pittodrie due to similar safety concerns. But the decision doesn’t wash with Dons supporters who are desperate to attend the game as Derek McInnes’ side battle to keep their silverware hopes alive. Granite City Aberdeen Supporters’ Club chief Derek Ledingham told the Daily Record: “It is the biggest game of the season for both Aberdeen and Rangers. “With the best will in the world, Celtic are going to win the league and so the Scottish Cup offers the best chance for Aberdeen or Rangers to win anything this season. “It is a big game and there are a lot of Aberdeen fans who are concerned they are not going to get tickets. “Cup games always bring out more fans because they are bigger than league games. “Last season we took 1,500 to the replay at Kilmarnock and I know we would have easily taken that again down to Ibrox, so it is disappointing we are getting less than 1,000 tickets.” The small army of travelling Aberdeen fans will be housed in the North West corner of the stadium for Tuesday’s quarter-final replay. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/3964572/aberdeen-fans-ibrox-scottish-cup-replay/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1551913381
