Interesting dissection but doesn't address what is apparently the feeling among others out there who I wont call a majority or anything near it but rather a contingent using the noun sense of the word. The common feature of this particular contingent is apparently an assertion that Rangers will struggle to be top 6 which puts us in the same bracket as say Dundee and what are the chances of them going for the title? How long will it take before we can ever have a rational discussion regarding the merits of our team with anything outside our own fans? Will realism creep into any discussion when it becomes obvious that belief is absurd? Or on the other hand are the proponents of this absurdity so far down the IQ scale that absurdity doesn't register?

Miller is making an arse of himself and if he doesn't know it then he's even dumber than he looks. I will try to give him the benefit of the doubt and suspect he's just a bitter wee timothy rather than THAT stupid.
-
The odds getting even shorter on Rangers at 4/9 now though as the Record suggests/wishes that could be largely due to all the money being heaped on it due to it hitting social media. Or on the other hand large individual sums being wagered by some in the know I suppose.
-
Fair point but I think we could also contend that he doesn't need the cushion.
-
Well if we're going to get the videos going THIS has to be posted. [video=youtube;DeKSmd-hjwo]

Couldn't agree more. He doesn't need money. Why would he want to play for a team who have no chance of playing in Europe and have no ambition but to stay in that league. It makes sense at this stage of his career.
-
Check that result. It's changing by the minute. Rangers now odds on at 4/7 with Stoke drifting further out to 5/1
-
The odds on signing for Rangers now evens and Stoke drift out to 4/1

This guy doesn't need money and if he were to go to Stoke he's going to be in a team with zero prospect of winning any honours and zero prospect of playing in Europe. Their only objective is to stay above the relegation zone. If we accept that Van Persie has more on his mind than accumulating more money he will never need it makes sense. This will likely be his last contract before retirement. What would be more appealing to round his career off? Battling relegation at Stoke or playing in a team with more than credible prospects of honours and playing in Europe.

And incidentally, if McParland pulls this off he is already a legend who should be immediately put into the hall of fame. Aside from the obvious quality he would bring to our team if this comes I just can't wait to see the timothy meltdown.
-
Well it was previously 6/5 and the change to 11/10 means if you take the odds as an indication that it's becoming even more likely.
-
The bookies just changed the odds to 11/10 LOL

Translation of one those twitter messages.

It's not always about money when you're talking about someone who already has more money than he could spend in multiple lifetimes. I'm sure Barton too could have made more money than he is with us but he doesn't need it. But in saying that I would still be surprised if he came to us though it does fit in with the 'sensational' signing rumour. That would indeed be sensational.

It's odd that both are making similar moves on the same day which suggests to me something is going down that we don't know about yet. As has already been proven above the mere act of stepping on to that pitch or the adjacent area is all by itself an offence. Might it be the case that the cops have indicated an intent to charge every single person on that pitch who can be identified? If that were the case it's of minimal concern to us and massive concern to them because there were thousands of them and possibly a few dozen of ours. See I look at their forums and right up to this moment there has never been any acknowledgement of having done a single thing wrong from their fans and in fact the opposite is the case. There is an open intent that they would do it all over again if they thought it fitting. You would imagine that the authorities at least glance over such forums just as I did and have noted this mentality and decided to knock it on the head.
-
Maybe the police have made them aware of something that hasn't been made public yet because it strikes me as peculiar that on the very same day hibs have made similar moves. And notice this doesn't mention any additional disorder, just being on the pitch at all. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hibs-write-fans-suspected-scottish-8503714#lyvzMTtzvbuwjUaD.97

Not so sure they will still get through. According to reports this team were all over them and only a string of saves from Gordon kept them in it which suggests that Astana are capable of an away goal.
-
Always gives anybody the option who recognises a face on that pitch who was there "without lawful authority or lawful excuse" to call the police and complain about it. I expect they're obliged to follow up on any such complaint.

Yes it is. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1991/19/section/4

Regarding the fitness of Kranjcar I don't think it would be accurate to say that he isn't fit enough to play but rather that he isn't fit enough to efficiently operate for a full 90 minutes. He will do perfectly well if he is given a starting spot and then replaced at the now traditional 60 minute mark. The Burnley game may see a lot of switching around outside that 60 minutes since he can mix it up as much as he wants to in a friendly.
-
Perhaps the club felt that it would be better PR to act before any court action involving specific individuals who they already know are guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt and will definitely be convicted as such. To my mind every last hibs fan who went on to that pitch should be charged because stepping on to the pitch is a criminal act under the 1991 football offences act which allows no special circumstances for "exuebrance" from diddy clubs who never won a trophy in anyones lifetime.
-
The embarrassment of riches is perfectly demonstrated by the fact that no one is mentioning O'Halloran at all while we also still have Crooks to come into the equation and possibly another two as yet unknown signings.
-
Well to be honest I just couldn't choose a strongest 11 at this stage which is obviously good and makes you wonder about the headaches the manager has over it. The Burnley match will give us an indication of where we stand defensively especially if we field Barton and Rossiter. Any breakaways will have to go through them to even reach the defense and Barton in particular seems to have a talent for sort of ushering such breakways into non threatening zones which gives the defenders who may be out of position time to get back. Then his little sidekick Rossiter can jump and take the ball from them. And that's largely what the few problems against Motherwell amounted to. They didn't play their way through us they simply had a fast runner who was racing into the space the advancing fullbacks were leaving open. That may be knocked on the head in future if we have Barton and Rossiter hanging back waiting for such events. If it became the case that they actually had to play their way through us the likes of Motherwell would struggle even harder to get anywhere.
