  1. If I am wrong I apologise. Not for the first time this thread has gone awry, keep it on track this evening please guys.
  2. Comeoffit, Kuznetsov, craig gave you a reason for the ban and the forum must comply with the rules of the threatening communications act or there will be repercussions for the forum and for the owners. This is about more than just yourselves so quit the childish and selfish attitudes.
  3. My mistake. I thought we were talking about a newspaper article.
  4. Also got a laugh at him kidding on about a different sponsor. Assuming we stay with Tennent's its still the same.
  5. 2 great but different conversations going on here. Amms posts have made me a lot more positive about it all. I have no understanding of business and PR and hadn't considered his take on it, but he backs it up with good points. On the other, related conversation, about winning hearts and minds. Well we're the Man U of Scotland (or they;re the Rangers of England). We are the biggest. We are the best. It's just not very British to like people (or teams) who are overly successful. Particularly when our success means we deny all others it. Therefore I don't believe we can ever become truly popular out with our own support. Fortunately our support is the biggest in the country.
  6. You may be right. But maybe it's not all as innocent as you suggest as I would say the vast majority of people who read the papers do not know of this friendship and would take the comments at face value. Gotta agree with Kuz on this one.
  7. I disagree. Yes his judgement can be questioned. It doesn't look like he;s making the right call. But I believe that is down to his view on the game, our squad and McCulloch's abilities relative to others who could play those roles, not being correct (as I view it) rather than because McCoist lacks a logical approach to the game in favour of an emotional one.
  8. Clearly, the numbers just don't add up. Still I can't believe they'd be less than honest about something like this.
  9. I was thinking this but didn't write it as I didn't see think I speak with enough credibility and eloquence for the point to be debated on its merits. It read like a editorial from the Sun or Record and we often moan when the fan groups don't put out professional statements. I like the boldness and the weight of the piece. There was just something off in the way it was presented. I can only really put it down to lacking professionalism for a club of our standing.
  10. I dont disagree with that. I just take umbrage at people essentially questioning his professionalism.
  11. Apparently its Magners who are part of the same group as Tennents. So they get to save face with all their bs about not having the same sponsor as us, but in actuality they still do really.
  12. You are missing the point. McCoist and Smith (wrongly imo) pick certain players because they think they form part of our best XI. Not because they have some man crush on them or some other such nonsense.
  13. Could be correct with that one. I again doubt he's alone in playing the captain more for what he brings to the team in terms of presence and leadership than actual ability on the field. So again the assertion that McCoist is picking his "favourites" is wrong, but that he is perhaps making one selection on more than just pure ability on the field.
  14. You can label this accusation at all managers though. Once a player has experience at a certain level managers will often fall back on them. How else did Paul Hartley continue to accrue caps once he had his first few. Rarely played well at that level. But managers look at his caps and "experience" and played him in spite of performances. At least as far as I can tell. And it happens all over world football. The managers don't have some kind of attachment to these players. They just have a different view to me or you as to who their best XI players are. Complain that they have made a bad call, but don't tarnish their judgement based on some emotional dysfunction.
  15. Do people honestly believe McCoist isn't objective when he picks his teams and does so from some sort of emotional attachment or jobs for the boys mentality. He might make poor selections but that is because he picks the players he thinks are best to win the game, whether he is right or wrong. He doesn't pick players because they're his mates. Give the manager some respect. More tired rhetoric from the Rangers support. I hate these buzz phrases and nonsense ideas that get perpetuated among message boards.
  16. Didn't want to start a new thread on this as I know it bores/annoys some fans. So searched for a thread with a relevant discussion. Here's the FOI for their ICT game:
  17. I still find this baffling. Normally everyone is saying how the club shouldn't be throwing money away. Now that want to give Miller wages? What will they learn from Miller that they wont learn from the club's greatest ever striker? So much for living within our means and having a sensible financial strategy.
  18. But he'd comfortably get 10grand for 2-3 years down there I reckon.
  19. People don't want to give Alexander two years but do want Miller back? Last time I saw him for Scotland he looked awful. And considering Miller appears to be more motivated by money than most we've had through the gates in recent years I can't see him coming cheap enough for our current level. Signing Miller just so we can win a game against Elgin? Fuck sake. He may have scored in that one. But we're gonna walk the league and there's no guarantees we wont drop more silly points if he was here. Hardly the goal scoring rate of a Kris Body is it.
  20. England no bother I reckon.
  21. My worries summed up by someone else:
  22. I see Longmuir has apparently said the powers are close to agreeing a deal which basically sounds like what the SPL wanted. 12-12-18. We stay in the bottom tier. And likely they sell the tv rights, including ours and despite the fact that we are the ones bringing in the money the SPL "big" teams will carve up what we generate.
  23. Aye, like that Samaras penalty save!
  24. And this is the latest from teh same guy:
