  1. Calm down for goodness sakes. He sent Walter a letter when he won the league. He sends a letter to everyone that acheives something of note in Scottish sport. Let' s concentrate on the real villians please and not create fake enemies FFS

This may not make him a villain bu that doesn't mean he's a fake enemy.

  2. Within the previous sky/Espn deal and now sky/bt deal we were only ever scheduled for about 10 or 12 games.

Still a side indictment of the top league that the only way they could get a deal was with a bunch of games from the bottom or 2nd bottom tier tagged on.

  3. Alan Hutton was one of the original Andy Little's or whoever else is chosen to be pilloried irrespective of his actual contribution.

Not too long ago I was about the only poster on here who rated Hutton. And it took many fans about 4 months to realise how well he was playing when he had his best season with us. Many have their opinion on a player and it's set almost forever. Like Hutton it takes people forever to change it.

Laughable that many want a lot of young players thrown out the squad yet cite Hutton as an example of what we could end with from the kids below the first team. Most would have tossed out Hutton before he "came good".

  4. Simonsen

    Smith

    Faure

    Foster

    Cribari

    Perry

    Hegarty

    Shiels

    Hutton

    Peralta

    Mitchell

And i would personally add Little, McCulloch, Black and probably Clark to that list. 14/15. I don't believe we need and 14/15 who will certainly be no use to us in 18 months time. That would leave us with a core of 15 players, our best 15 and still paying more in wages than just about every other club in the country yet saving around £3m per year. With 3 or 4 added from the Under 20's who are now ready and bursting to step up gives us a squad of almost 20 and still paying more in wages than just about every other club in the country. Plenty to get us through the next 6 months and an excellent base of youth and enthusiasm to drive us into the next two leagues. That is all without buying or signing a single player yet. Who knows what funds could be freed up or made available should that 14 find new clubs.

And before anyone starts, of course 14 is unrealistic, of course it is but it is what i believe we need. I would certainly support such a cull of the passengers. We have simply got too many players who are contributing nothing and who have no long term future with us.

Would we have a right back left?

  5. Bottom line is our financial model is unsustainable. The days of us spending £20m a summer and £30m a season in wages are gone.

We need to come up with a new way of building a title winning side through improved scouting and youth development. Other than maybe Peralta this season I can't see any example of our scouting system at work and under the present management structure I see no real youth development.

Not sure that's great example of a scouting system working.

  6. Amms said What is it people expect from 'youth development' exactly? I keep reading this criticism of Rangers yet I don't see any other clubs in Scotland producing great players. Indeed I don't see many in the UK producing great players.*"

well maybe not "great" players but take aberdeen (jack, pawlett, smith good youngsters and half the team came through their system.recently sold fraser and grimmer) dundee united have some very talented kids that came through in recent years and current as well, gauld, armstrong etc...

The irony is we laughed at them as they would be fucked without us in spl. They are the ones turning to youth, playing better football, young progressive "coaching" managers..as i stay up north i know their fans are excited again, not because they win every game but because they are buying into the philosophy.. thats what people on here are banging on about ally lacking. It's not some impossible fantasy it just needs a proper football manager who can build a club not just assemble a group of experienced pros..

Weird that most teams attendances are down then. And almost no rangers fans would accept those Aberdeen "starlets" in our team.

  7. I would have been raging if that pen had been given against us.

I said to my bro it was never a pen.

Got Arsenal on in the background, when Clark missed I looked over at the Arsenal game as ball was out of play in our game. Looked back at ours to be shocked we'd been awarded a pen.

  8. Agreed about Aird - would have preferred him to start as opposed to Peralta.

Might be more to do with putting him on later when their legs are tired.

The manager could use that excuse but frankly it would be bollocks. All managers are pretty guilty of this and I see the same crap in other sports like rugby too. Just pick your best team. And right now that doesn't include Peralta. Probably the worst performer in the starting XI right now when other players have come in and performed better. It stinks.

  9. The best players generally always play for the national side at all age groups though

Don't disagree. But no one would be happy if our team was the 11 players representing Scotland at any level. Typically Rangers XI is much better than Scotland's. Present circumstances not withstanding. Even then I'm not sure many of our fans would be taking players out of the Scotland team into ours.

  10. Aird dropped for Peralta ??

Cowardly decision typical of the modern day football manager.

Apparently "experience" trumps form and ability.

Really pissed off with that one.

  11. The comment that struck me is about the number of players let go who've represented Scotland at age levels.

I don't see that as particularly mattering.

Most are fans have higher standards for Rangers than what Scotland put out. Many players who play nationally at youth level don't succeed or excel as a senior pro. Ok we're at a lower standard than we aspire to be but I still just don't think it's totally relevant.

  12. They havent lost an spl game all season and were close to a records point total last year. I dont want to talk them up but lets just say we are a long long way off them just now.

We need huge investment in the playing squad. We probably at most have 4 or 5 players of the required quality.

Was their total not fairl crap. Especially so when you factor in that 12 points more than normal were a lot easier up for grabs.
