McCoist set for talks over Israel striker Hemed as Rangers make their move
Frankie replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Did you? What's yer tag? Find it hard to keep up with who is who on there! -
BTW, I'm going to use this software to have a fan survey before the start of the new season in July. I'm looking for experts in question forming and such like to make the survey value in terms of obtaining genuine opinions on the issues that affect Rangers fans. Should be interesting!

Leggo - celtic fans to fight salmond's new sectarian law
Frankie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Yeah, there have been a few. Another one this evening IIRC. -
Kirk broadfoot claims he can fill rangers defensive gap
Frankie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Kirk is a good back-up option to have but we need more quality than him as first choice centre half. -
Jackson is as much a bear as we have in the media. However, his article was misjudged and I'm glad the club have acted to ensure such articles are removed. We'll soon see how far they go in that respect.

Which makes sense as long as they improve our team at the same time. We'll just have to trust their judgement on that... -
Great news!

Leggo - celtic fans to fight salmond's new sectarian law
Frankie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Rangers fan groups have meeting reasonably regularly together for a few months now I believe - organised by the Nithsdale. From that, I'm hoping to see better information sharing and organisation so we can face our challenges as a support together. This new legislation (due to be presented to Parliament today) and discussed via a Stakeholder meeting in Edinburgh tomorrow is one such challenge. The new Bill is flawed and the organisation of it so far farcical. For example, the RFC fan groups were only invited on the late intervention of a concerned citizen while groups like the Orange Order and Cairde na hÃ?â?°ireann were already supposedly invited. That is strange given the Bill (Offensive Behaviour in Football and Threatening Communications - to give it its full title) is football and internet related. What do these organisations have to do with this yet no fan forum administrators are invited and fan groups only very late in the day. Leggo is right in that we must ensure our voice is heard as this 5 year old sham continues to be funded and paid lip service to by opportunity seeking politicians and public figures. All this comes down to money and when one considers that our club (and support) are about to also be disadvantaged via new proposed Strathclyde Police Authority costing measures; one must ask why finance seems to be the sole motivation for such changes in the law - not genuine concern for a social disease which football supporters are made scapegoats for. -

Conway would certainly supplement the squad but I'd be looking for more quality than him to be honest. He could improve though and represents minimal risk.

Given this is now on the official site, it seems likely that Hemed will be McCoist's first signing as Rangers manager... -

No probs mate - but better to have the link as well where possible. As long as you reference the source though, that should be fine hopefully. -

Agreed. Please can everyone do that when quoting stories from the media. -
Apparently Jackson was banned for a short while whilst the Record considered Rangers threat of legal action should the paper not retract the allegations. This obviously happened yesterday evening when the story was removed from their website and I'd imagine an apology will be forthcoming over the next few days while their legal team discuss the story's origins. Rather embarrassing for the paper/journalist involved but not yet an indication of a sea-change in the way we deal with inaccurate publicity as SDM/MIH would have done the same thing if he was personally slighted. Like I say, there's no real evidence of a huge strategic change in our media tact but that's Radio 5 (via Campbell) and the Record (via Jackson) who've had their collar felt recently. Good news in anyone's book. However, there was also a scandalous editorial in The Times the other week where they brought Rangers into the nonsense that happened at Tynecastle. Nothing was done there - at least not that I'm aware of. As always, time will tell but I'm hopeful the club are certainly being more aggressive than usual when dealing with half-truths and mischief-making.

I'd much rather McCoist did his talking after players were signed. -
Not sure the Jackson ban is still in place. May have been temporary until Record retracted story & apologised Embarrassing for the paper.

Don't get me wrong - if we can be clever in the transfer market by limiting ourselves to free players (and/or suitable loan deals) to help face our ongoing financial challenges, I'd be delighted. However, we still need to buy players and if you want real quality, it will (generally speaking) cost you. The problem we have is we still don't know the answers to many of the questions we have. It's up to Craig Whyte to answer them - especially since we're still half a board of directors short less than 6 weeks ahead of the new SPL season starting.
-
I was told two weeks ago that we would not pay a fee for a player this summer as Whyte has still not secured the external funding promised. Rumours are that Jelavic was paid for by Ticketus style funding ahead of our CL involvement last season but I've no idea if that is true (probably Celtic-minded mischief-making) but would this kind of thing show up in our annual accounts? I sincerely hope the same 'risk' isn't taken this year in the absence of other investment and/or guaranteed CL Group Stage income.
