http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=89&Itemid=1 The RST was inundated with complaints about the treatment Rangers supporters received at the hands of the Police at Parkhead yesterday. Complaints include the Police bizarrely removing Union Flags - the flag of this country - whilst making no attempts to remove flags of a foreign nation being flown by the home support. It was also noted that the Police attitude was unhelpful, negative and unfriendly, despite Rangers supporters having one of the lowest arrest rates of any club in Scotland. It is difficult to escape the conclusion that this attitude was down to the attendance of certain dignitaries at yesterday's match. However, it is surprising that these same rules were not applied to supporters in the home end. After the scandal at Parkhead in November 2005 - where the Rangers support was 90 times more likely to be arrested than those in the home end - it is becoming increasingly clear that the Rangers support is being policed in a different fashion to other supports in Scotland. The RST raised its concerns with the Police at that time; however it is apparent that these concerns were not addressed. We will be seeking a meeting with Strathclyde Police and looking for assurances that this politically motivated campaign against Rangers supporters cease immediately, and that we are no longer subject to a two-tier system of Policing. The treatment of Rangers fans - ordinary, working men and women whose only crime is a love of their team - is a disgrace. The RST feel that if assurances are not given, serious thought must be given to an organised campaign of civil disobedience at matches. Whilst this would not be anyone's preferred option, the time has come for the Rangers support to stand up and be treated fairly.

Also, while I'm on why not a wee plug for our dinner later this month: The line up is quite astonishing. 5-course meal, top class speakers, Saturday 24th March in the Holiday Inn, Bothwell Street, Glasgow, fantastic raffle / auction prizes and a group of ex-Rangers players that will chat to you all night and will not leave as soon as the speeches are finished. In attendance will be (in no order) Gordon Smith Marvin Andrews Billy Davies Ralph Brand Jimmy Millar Johnny Hubbard Billy Simpson Artur Numan Alex Rae Ally Dawson John MacDonald Kevin Drinkell Colin Stein Tam Forsyth Graham Roberts Would you believe we also have some Glasgow councillors and MPs? With 500 tickets sold it is going to be a great night out and it would be a shame for anyone to miss it. Although proper renewal letters are currently being prepared for issue with this month's edition of The Blue Spirit (posted this week), members are welcome to renew online now, and thereby give Trust funds an early boost in advance of some fairly heavy expenditure for our forthcoming initiatives. We shall also be inviting nominations from Trust members for Board positions. Full details of this will also be contained in the The Blue Spirit, but if you would like to renew online (same price as last year) then please visit the JOIN NOW page. The Trust is THE engine that is driving change amongst the support and fighting the good fight on behalf of all Rangers fans throughout different areas in society. But the Trust depends for it's credibility upon the active support of it's members - both old and new. On Reporting Scotland last night, Alison Douglas finished her sports bulletin with the breaking news that the Scottish journalists' bus had a bottle thrown at it as it entered the stadium periphery. Strange how the story hasn't been followed through by their website or any of the newspapers this morning (other than one sentence by Keek Jackson). Anyone else remember the furore when something similar happened with us in Villareal last year? Any difference in the reporting of the two incidents or am I just being a paranoid again?

Nah, I don't actually mind the response. It is a satirical column and the guy has admitted he's made a mistake. I actually got another email from his editor last night apologising again and saying they won't use the term ever again. Quit while we're ahead I think.

Murray Park pages now completed...! http://www.gersnetonline.net/newsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=368&Itemid=33

You'll find it all in the archive mate.
-
Now added to archive: - Current squad info (First team and Reserves/Youth) - Ibrox Stadium background and pics - COMPLETED - Murray Park background and pics - COMPLETED - Full Managerial Stats (work ongoing) - Full Rangers player history (work ongoing) - Past results and stats (season by season) - COMPLETED - Key Event Timeline - (work ongoing) - Final League Tables (season by season) - COMPLETED - Other Competition Winners (season by season) - COMPLETED - Full Rangers Honours List - COMPLETED - Media Downloads (season by season) - Recommended Reading and Bibliography (work ongoing) http://www.gersnetonline.net/newsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=31 Then over the next week I'll be creating a year by year timeline with all the crucial info in one easy to read section. Started work on this now. The longer project is the actual 'Rangers Story' of which the first part is currently available. That will take a bit longer to write and finish. Hoping to have the site back on Newsnow in the next 14 days. They are very busy with new site submissions so we just have to wait in the queue. When we are accepted more Gersnet Analysis will be appearing again and I'll also be buying a new domain name for the archive. Thanks to gribz for continuing the excellent match previews and if anyone else wants to upload any articles please give me a shout by pm. Coupled with forthcoming advertisements in the 2 main fanzines (as well as The Rangers Historian) hopefully we'll be back on our way to building the forum as it was last year and previously. Thanks again for your continued support and I'm sure all this hard work will be worth it!

This suggests they may employ a defensive formation so hopefully that means we'll have Boyd and Prso/Novo up front to try and take advantage of that. I think it's imperative we keep a clean sheet though as I think this tie is 50/50.

McNee wrote a rather sheepish column at the weekend. No direct apology but he did admit he was wrong in his own inimitable way. Not to mention a last warning from the club for him and his newspaper.

Today, an Express column written by satirist Scot Hickey referred to Rangers fans as 'huns'. Unacceptable I'm sure you'll agree. This bear took a few mins to write to the journalist and editor (who I know) and got a prompt apology. Hickey will also apologise in tomorrow's paper apparently. Just goes to show we don't need to accept being villified by the press one day then made fun of in the same way the next. Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Thank you for your communication about the Hickey column. This is a light-hearted column which satirically pokes fun at individuals and organisations. However, it is not the intention of the column or this newspaper to insult or anger anyone. Please accept my sincere apologies if you feel angry or insulted by today's column. I think you will find Hickey will make his own apology in tomorrow's column. Once again, thank you for your interest in the Scottish Daily Express. Just for the record, I am a Falkirk season ticket holder, so have no axe to grind with either side of the Old Firm! Best regards, H. David Hamilton, Executive Editor, Scottish Express Newspapers, Citypoint 2, 25 Tyndrum Street, Glasgow, G4 OJY.
