I can't imagine why anyone would think ill of John Lundstram. He's been exceptional for much of his time here and I very much hope we can see him in a Rangers shirt at least for next season. However anyone familiar with our contracting decisions over the last 30 years or so can't help being concerned at the way we typically hand out long term contracts to players over 30, only to regret it and end up buying out contracts. The waste of resources has been ridiculous at times ....... as has already been implied by Philippe Clement.

Aye, and some of the main protagonists would've settled for Warnock, which they seem to forget....

There have been periods when Barisic's confidence has been high and he made a very solid contribution. That's the Barisic it was a pleasure to watch. However, all too often his confidence has been in his socks and his play predictably negative. Receive the ball out wide, take three steps forward, bail out and pass backwards to Souttar, repeat ..... I think that's how I will remember Borna Barisic.

Why has this been made a secret ballot?

I think at Lundstram's age we would surely just be looking at a one or two year extension only? That seemed to be the model for Arfield, Jack, McGregor and one or two others in recent years. Saying that, I could well see that he wants to secure a long term deal and that might mean him moving on.
I think one year is the right approach but I doubt he would accept it and would move elsewhere for a longer contract term.
Lundstram has been a stalwart this season, particularly under PC, but this is exactly the right time to be finding his successor. I just hope this manager has more of an idea about the evolution of a playing squad than his predecessors.

I think it was Falkirk.
You're right enough. The Caley promotion issue was another matter altogether but also due to stadium standards

I remember when Aberdeen was saved from relegation only because ICT did not have the required seating capacity. It seems all pretence at improving the quality of the Premier League has been abandoned and the SPFL is now happy to accept woeful plastic pitches and a complete absence of drainage. I should also mention Pittodrie has a fire liability for a main stand that should have been condemned years ago.

I bet anyone could name dozens of Rangers players who were worse than Sam Lammers.
You only need to think back to the dark days of League 2, our wilderness years in the Championship and the barron years of the early to mid 80's.
I'll start, I'm sure we'll get there very quickly
Ian Black
Billy King
Michael O'Halloran
Francis Jeffers
James Beatie
Andy Kennedy
Bobby Williamson
Carlos Pena
Salim Kerkar
Sebo
Nuno Capucho
The Newcastle Five
Every player Le Guen signed with the exception of Sasa Papac
Feel free to add, there plenty more
Late edit and contender for the award, I give you Mr Kevin Kyle.
That's just a list of poor Rangers players. Any of us could double it without trying but no matter how many names you list, it won't make Lam Sammers any less of a dud.

I’ve seen some awful duds over many years supporting Rangers but Lam Sammers was up there with the worst. What he does elsewhere, well who cares.

Which of our players will be risking injury and missing a chance to recharge their batteries during the break - Souttar, Matondo, Raskin, Yilmaz?

I can't see Dujon featuring tomorrow! he went off with a hamstring injury so I wouldn't expect a risk to be taken with him?.
Probably right.

Obviously, so fresh legs might be useful.
Might depend on whose fresh legs you chose. Is the Dujon available yet?

The one thing more difficult to measure is Ridvan's energy compared to Barisic, although that probably isn't a factor considering how shattered Ridvan looked the other night.
Is it possible that making effort is a basis for being shattered?

If Ridvan had dropped 2 acid and wore a dress for the match, I'd still have him playing before Barisic.
Ain’t that the truth. I’d rather have a tired Yilmaz than a fullback whose only trick is passing backwards

Wright and Matondo aren't good enough, it's as simple as that. They're both quick and can beat a man but that's about it.
Clement must know this.
That's a fair comment that could equally be applied almost everywhere in the first team squad but we don't have the finances to fix every weakness. If we did, we'd already have the title wrapped up and be in the business end of the CL. Philippe Clement will only be able to shore up the worst of it.

Unless Yilmaz is injured or suspended, I wouldn't have Barasic anywhere near my starting XI for the rest of the season. He just doesn't have the stomach for the fight IMO.
Precisely. Barisic has shown time and again how fragile his attitude can be. He has occasionally been an asset but inevitably then sinks into some slough of despond again. I suspect this weakness of character is exactly why the manager has demoted him to the bench. At least Yilmaz shows signs of being a fighter, as I think PC recently described him.

With our finances and the squad size we need playing two games most weeks, there will always be some Wrights and Matondos.

Tom Lawrence stays fit - we will win the league
I doubt many would argue with that 👍

The problem I have with Wright is that there is clearly a talented player in him and we see that in glimpses in matches (as we did last night for the Dessers chance) but he just can't seem to consistently produce these moments.
That's possibly inevitable given he never gets to benefit from a run in the team. I'll be surprised if Scott Wright is at Rangers after the summer transfer window and it's likely he'll never be more than he is now. But Matondo costs us an arm and a leg every week and is here fore years if he chooses ... and he's consistently woeful to boot.
Scott comes from the small village I live in so perhaps I'm a wee bit biased. When he scored that cup final goal I thought the same as you ... he might just be a squad player but he'll have that moment forever.

I’m sure it used to be possible to block/ignore/mute another member but I’m obviously too thick to figure out how to do so. Can anyone explain how to do this please?
