  1. I'm surprised the media hasn't already started to undermine Philippe Clement. He's had a 5 month honeymoon but it won't last and it's only a matter of time before he gets a target painted on his back. Hopefully he knows this is inevitable and is ready to see it for what it is.

I do feel Wright’s time is up. He has no final ball.

For all his faults, I think Wright is always a better option than Matondo, who has no ball at all, final or otherwise, and may be the only player who hasn't responded to the new manager.

Manager has to take some responsibility for last night’s goal. 1 punt up the field and we are left 2 on 1. There was no reason whatsoever to leave ourselves so exposed on 60 minutes when we were on top. McCoist was in shock and rightly so.

In terms of football management and coaching, McCoist is a nobody who should generally be ignored.

There were a handful of corners where it looked like Benfica were going to score on the break.  Definitely needs looked at.

I can't remember the last time I didn't feel uneasy when the opposition took a corner kick.

Off course it is, but life on football and social media in general is easy. Just ignore anything you find boring and tedious rather than becoming involved.

Your time and effort (and undeniable knowledge) would be better served in the Russia / Ukraine thread where there is no tedious arguments or boring posts.

    Tiresome

You DID misquote and bow your changing the narrative.

I don't think we were favourites to beat Benfica (that's 3 games at Ibrox against them in the last few years and we are yet to defeat them).

If we had a fully fit and firing squad, we would have had a better chance of beating them.

Putting things into perspective, going into the game tonight they were 4tg or 5th favourites to win the competition, whilst we were 14th.

If you think we should be beating Benfica, that's your perogative. Others see it different and are entitled to.

I just look forward to a time when the game topic isn't reduced to this sort of petty and pointless bickering over who said what to who. I mean, it's as tedious as it's predictable.

Yes...they were shit...but we couldn't best them...so what does that make us?

If you are truly better than the other team...you walk the dog on em.

All this "they were offsides...VAR...blah blah woof woof"

If you go out and stomp ass all that falls by the wayside.

We were never any real threat.

    Thems the facts.

Truth is we often get our expectations out of kilter with reality. Anyone who's seriously upset at going out to Benfica by the minimum margin is expecting way too much. As we rebuild yet again, I regard our EL run as another success. So much more to look forward to.

It will be interesting to hear what PC has to say tonight.

  8. On the whole it has been another creditable run in Europe, which is about all we can hope for. It's over now but the good news is we have several other fish to fry between now and the end of the season.

On the occasions when Beale did pick Sterling, I don’t remember much praise for him here.

Possibly because Beale had made it clear he thought Sterling didn't deserve a place on the pitch. Clement has players feeling ten feet tall. That's the difference that translates to how players perform.

he reality is nobody is offended, it's just another show of hatred towards Rangers by Scottish football in general, they all tried to kill Rangers and failed, this is where it all comes from. The whole of Scottish football hate Rangers, including the SFA and the Scottish gutter press.

Exactly right. All so-called offence is motivated by hatred and envy.

  11. My instinct is that people should be free to be offensive if they so wish and those who are intent on being offended should grow up. However, given the deeply held animosity towards Rangers throughout the political and judicial world, I think this is a tide we can no longer swim against without risking considerable harm to our club.

That said, our enemies will always find a reason to call for sanctions against us. Where reasons don't exist, they will simply create them. There's no escaping the hatred and envy.
