There was a rumour doing the rounds that the delay in approaching McInnes was down to Mark Allen as DOF not fancying him at all and putting forward Steve McLaren as his preferred appointment. The Boatd rejected that and insisted on McInnes,when that went pear shaped it was back to,Mark Allen ,maybe he is still pushing for McLaren and there us still boardroom resistance., hence the continuing delay. F true why have a DOF if you are not going to take his advice?

If Murty manages to remain unbeaten till end of this month including the mob from the east end it will be difficult not to give him the job till at least the end of the season. Maybe bring on Walter as a ‘consultant’ to give the guy a trusted head to advise.

Reading through this I fear not many understand the DOF role and the thinking behind it. It is for the very reasons we find ourselves in that we have a DOF , managerless but the show goes on. Managers can come and go however the philosophy and method of play and players required remains consistent . Any manager coming in will be made aware of the way the club operates and have to work within those structures. Some of the most successful clubs in the world work using this principle. The coaching staff identify a particular part of the team that needs strengthening the characteristics of a player his attributes,his skills his attitude will already have been mapped out long beforehand for every position and every age group. Graeme Murty has already said he has had talks with DOF about areas that need strengthening. What usually happens DOF goes and gets several options all with agreed skill sets and then manager makes final choice though not always the case at some of biggest clubs eg Chelsea where owner sometimes picks and buys his favourite eg.Andriy Shevchenko

All the media, pundits and ex players spewing the same bile about how Rangers are guilty of causing all this speculation and unrest to poor Aberdeen and McInnes. . What a load of bolloks,all the speculation was by the media starved of information, and ex players and ‘expert rent a quotes’ trying to remain relevant. Rangers have never suggested for a second that McInnes was their choice and they would make a move for his services till this week,and then they did it through the proper channels and in the proper manner.. Rangers have done nothing wrong just because we have not done things in the timescales the media require to sell their rags is nothing to do with Rangers Football Club or its Board. Why should we work to their schedule ,it is our club,our manager,our timescales.

Where does it say anywhere we cannot afford McInnes? The Chief Executive doesn’t do the head hunting what are you going on about? A vote of no confidence really? You sure you are a Rangers fan ,or are you just here to troll ?

No ,pure and simple he does not have the experience or gravitas to be our manager. I would also suggest that if we require player/ players in Jan to keep us in contention ,for first,or second place ,money will be found. I like many of our fans desperately wanted Pedro to succeed I am the same with the 2 Mexicans,however when I have watched Pena he just looks clumsy,lacks control and seems lost I just don’t see a player,then he scores two really technical goals. It really is a conundrum is there a player in there sonewhere? Herrera looks to at least have the ability to control a ball and puts himself about ,however IMHO neither are first picks.

Am I not correct in thinking that there is every likelihood of a new share issue being approved at the AGM in November? I do not know how much they intend to raise or what value they can realistically place on the company. This new money will hoover up the soft loans and should hopefully raise some extra monies for Stadium upgrades and perhaps a fund for the new manager to spend in a January and summer windows.

Here’s the thing respect is earned it is not given to you with a title be that Manager , Director ,Captain etc. The scenario you mention ,no player would have dared go against Walter , Jock Wallace , Alex Ferguson ,they had the respect of the players ,and they earned that respect because they kept putting winning teams on the pitch. They made training that suited the players as well as the managers credo. If you ask any player that worked under Walter a look was all he needed to give he didn’t need to banish players ,or attempt to humiliate them by making them train with the weans, bottom line and for whatever reason Pedro lost the dressing room. He did not have,or managed to lose the respect of the players new old ,Scottish,Portuguese ,or Mexican

I don’t disagree for a minute if you play for either Old Firm team you have a better chance of being selected for National team. What our Aberdonian seems to omit from his thoughts historically the reason was not because they just played for Old Firm but that invariably the best players played there and will do again that is why 54 and counting and they have what 2 ,3 titles ,?

Scott Gemmill has announced his squad for the upcoming games against Latvia and Ukraine. Double congratulations Rangers have 3 lads in the squad the McRories brothers and Ryan Hardie. It is also heartening to see Rangers have the most players in the squad in comparison to any other team. That is the way it always used to be at any level and is a sign that we are slowly but surely getting the best players available into Rangers jerseys. Well done to the lads ,I am sure they will do their club and country proud.

That might actually be the team we have had for past few years Hampden was the same we were better and more confident and made a better atmosphere and created more intensity.

I know McInnes seems to be the media’s favourite and it seems with fans too,just got to say while I admire what he has done at St Johnstone and Aberdeen I am just a bit underwhelmed. I said earlier in the thread my pick is Alan Pardew and I have not changed he has worked in big club like aNewcastke and for many years in the Premier League so he is no mug. I think he has good profile and certainly good contacts in England that along with our DOF can only be good for the club.

Now that we have a DOF the manager is not as vital in signings as was once the case. As I understand it what happens is coaching staff tell DOF the positions they want strengthened the attributes they are wanting eg Left Sided MF pace ,two footed ,good at tracking back ,crossing ability etc etc Then DOF should have a long list and match up against the requirements of the coaching staff. Any new guy coming in it shouldn’t take him long to know where he needs to strengthen ,or if he wants to change the style etc so new players with certain skill sets are required

Any manager has “favourites” however wee Chesney took that to extreme levels. I think as time goes by there are a few in this squad that may well become Scotland regulars.

Congratulations to Ryan being selected for the latest Scotland squad today. Good for him and the club that he gets some recognition. I look forward to the day when we are once again the team with the most players in any Scotland squad . It will mean we are getting back to where we belong at the top of the pile.

No not my premise at all, I only assumed as I can think of no other explanation ,nor can anyone else,so therefore it seems my earliest thoughts are confirmed we are to be offended and call it sectarian ,because we’ll just because ,however we do not know why we are offended ,nor whyit is sectarian. As I said on a few occasions that was my understanding,and I disagree completely nobody has given a definitive reason on when or why they stopped being the Huns- ,and we became the Huns. I have seen the description of Huns as in the warriors of long ago, I have read about some graffiti in Northern Ireland but nobody has explained why we are now known as Huns. I started this thread to genuinely get information ,I note some of our zealots want to question my very existence on this thread in my thirst for knowledge. Like others on here I am old enough to remember us singing at them Go home ya Huns. That I understood, their “neutrality”in WWII the entire east coast of Ireland being used as a lit up marker for the German bombers to navigate to their UK targetsetc. The ‘belief’ that the same day if ever the Germans invaded UK mainland the Irish Army would enter and attempt to take the 6 counties. I understood that it was simple,however somewhere and somehow we became the Huns,and as I said ,I thought it was because of our Germanic monarchy. Nobody has yet been able to say why it is now our “badge” or how it originated . There are posts about all sorts of things appertaining to them but nothing on what I tried to find out. I really do wish the hardcore of our fan base would stop this radicalism type behaviour . Anyone asks ,or says anything that does not meet the hardcore acceptable levels of silent obedience is immediately attacked as some sort of imposter it is a nonsense.
