match thread (image) [FT] Celtic 0 - 2 Rangers (Goldson 9, 54)

The man himself confirmed this on Twitter. Duffy tweeted a Brighton fan to say Celtic were paying all his wages. I had heard it was 45k but I don't know. Duffy played 91 games in the EPL over three seasons and, on paper, looked a good signing. In that context, you have to give credit to our scouts who unearthed Filip Helander from mid table Serie A at the beginning of last season. Winning the recruitment battle is a huge part of overtaking Celtic and establishing ourselves as the best team in the country again. -

Where's the man of the match thread? -
Credit where it’s due, no excuses and no nonsense from Sportscene tonight. They gave us full credit and did a good job of showing how good we were. It helps that McCann was on. But Michael Stewart had actually predicted a 2-0 win for us.

I think I will watch Sportscene tonight ?

Agree with all of this except only two of our players being at their best. I think quite a few barely put a foot wrong. -

Couldn’t agree more. They didn’t have a single shot on target, that was domination and that was not down to them missing a couple of attacking players. I am increasingly confident in this coaching team. -

I’d like to see Itten come on for Morelos sooner rather than later tbh. And Hagi for Barker. Granted the lack of pace isn’t great for a game like this but, but there is a big difference in quality between the players too. -

Rumours Jullien is out. If true, they have a selection headache and surely won’t go 3-5-2 after all -

“And Sutton insisted all the pressure is on Rangers because of the depleted Celtic squad but McCoist was having none of it as they went head-to-head on BT Sport. Sutton said: "In terms of the selection opportunities for Steven Gerrard, he has essentially a full squad to pick from. "Celtic are heavily, heavily depleted.” “Celtic boss Neil Lennon says today’s massive game won’t define the season. I’m sorry to disagree with my old teammate, but it definitely could. If Rangers lose it, they won’t recover. Psychologically, it would be a huge blow for Steven Gerrard’s team.” (Sutton again) As I expected, Celtic have their media men pushing this narrative to put the pressure on us, total nonsense. -

This is disappointing. It’s expected but Aribo is missing so many big games and he is a huge player this season. -

I had a look at how Celtic will most likely line up, and tbh they are are hardly weakened. Edouard and Christie are the only starters they are missing. Livingston was the last game Forrest was fit, and Frimpong started ahead of him in the 3-5-2 anyway, and in that game Ajeti started ahead of Edouard too. Ajeti is in much better form than Edouard and Elyounoussi has started 6/9 games anyway. Barkas Jullien Duffy Ajer Frimpong Taylor Brown Ntcham McGregor Ajeti Elyounoussi I think the narrative has been set in such a way that the pressure is on Rangers and off Celtic, which I think is unjustified. They are missing one key player, who was anonymous every time they played us last season, and another who has been absolutely miles off it in recent weeks anyway. We don’t know who we will be missing but Aribo is a stick on starter and IMO our best player and probably won’t make it (even if he does he has been out for so long). Roofe is another stick on starter (imo) who probably won’t make it. Then we have a few players who are slight doubts. There really isn’t the huge difference in player availability that is being reported. -

I think you could add Jack vs Hagi here. In a game like this away from home, Arfield could be deployed in Hagi’s position. You could also add Morelos vs Itten. Morelos is very late getting back from Colombia and has been in really poor form. -
It’s genuinely embarrassing. Belongs in a Celtic match day programme.

The papers seem to be trying their best to do their bit. "Leigh Griffiths backed to gun down Rangers by Celtic kid as he's 'one of UK's most lethal strikers'" is the headline. Where has this story come from? The article tells us. That's the thoughts of Celtic kid Scott Robertson who worked alongside the Scotland striker in training on a daily basis before heading out on loan to Gillingham earlier this summer. How is this news? Youth player reckons first team striker is good.
