  1. Yeh that’s right, if you have a problem with Paul Cooney or Rob McLean it’s maybe not for you. Most of the discussion is by Si Ferry and Barry Ferguson when he is on. I gather Paul Cooney is former Clyde and was strongly disliked by our fans. However I was on the lookout for anything remotely negative or underhand towards us and I can honestly say they had no problem discussing Rangers at length very positively (which has been in violation of BBC policy it seems for years now), and that includes Cooney and McLean. I suppose the test may be after a hickup.
  2. Sportsound discussed our game for a couple of minutes again on Thursday night before spending the rest of the broadcast discussing all things Sellick. Sick of them. Discovered Go Radio which to me seems a good alternative to the BBC. They have Barry Ferguson on 3 times a week. They spent the majority of the broadcast on both Thursday and Friday talking about Rangers. https://thisisgo.co.uk/shows/the-go-radio-football-show/
  3. The chances of picking up the virus during a game are minuscule.
  4. I don’t gamble, but bookmakers make a fortune because they are better than the vast majority of people at predicting future results based on past performance (by and large).
  5. Haha. They tell me we’ve had a very good start to the season and have been more creative than our rivals so far. Doesn’t mean there are any guarantees for the future but the challenge is to maintain that level of performance.
  6. That was certainly the case last season when there was a stark contrast in our performances before and after new year. However, interestingly, these guys did predict Celtic to win the league in December when we were neck and neck.
  7. They are based on a popular stat called “expected goals”. In layman’s terms, it is basically a measure of the quality and quantity of chances you are creating. It estimates the goals you would expect to score from the shots you are taking. So if you are taking lots of shots from very good areas, your “expected goals” will be high. Edit: if you are scoring fewer than your expected goals, it points to poor finishing. If your expected goals itself is low, it points to a lack of creativity
  8. Aberdeen's gradual improvement is notable in this table. Not the best time to play them.
  9. This is a good read. So far this season, most of our good chances have come from gradual build up play, whereas Celtic seem pretty reliant on counter attacks. Pleasing to see we are doing better at breaking teams down so far.

  11. I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread for posting stats and analytics since there are a growing number of Twitter accounts out there putting out really good material which informs discussion in my opinion, and is interesting at the very least. This is better than finding a slightly related thread to post them in or starting new threads. Some people hate stats. "Americanisation of the game" etc. Stats are just facts. What you do with those facts and the conclusions you draw from them is the important bit.
  12. He was brilliant. The fact we were able to make three changes and get the same result is amazing.
  13. I stand by saying a draw would have been a very good result. This team are consistently exceeding our highest expectations at the moment.
  14. Didn't notice that, will need to look out for it.
  15. I actually thought that chance they had at the end was his mistake. Watching the highlights the ball comes down and it just hits off him, I don't know what he was doing. It just seems like a bit of a brain fart. They should have scored from it. Earlier in the game he had a mistake too where he dribbled the ball out but miscontrolled it and lost it for a moment and almost left us very vulnerable to a counter attack, but luckily the opposing player couldn't control it and he won it back. I thought he was good apart from those two moments. I think he is a good backup but I feel much more comfortable with Helander playing.
  16. I thought Tavernier was simply immense. The consistency in his game is just incredible right now, almost nothing goes wrong for him and he is everywhere. He is brimming with confidence and is vastly improved over last season even at his peak. I thought Jack, Kamara and Arfield were very good too. Each of them deserve a lot of praise. Arfield again provided goal-creating moments and would have had a very impressive assist if Morelos had more confidence. Barisic was good and Bassey was outstanding considering how little game time he has had. To have so much confidence on that stage and at his age was really pleasing to see. Fearless. Hagi had some very good moments which almost led to goals too but wasn't as good as against Galatasaray, he did have some slackness in his game at times. Kent again was good when they had the ball but not very good with the ball imo. A bit slack in his dribbling, showing too much to the defender and quite easily tackled. The less said about Morelos the better. He did improve, I'll give him that, but even after he improved he still had bad moments and missed good chances. As I said in the game thread, Roofe had been excellent since the moment he came on. It was night and day, our attacks weren't breaking down anymore. He keeps the ball and links up so well. We will be vastly improved as a team with him starting up front. Hopefully a spell out will do Morelos good. Persevering with him hasn't worked.
  17. I can't remember him getting caught out. The only scare was that one at the end and that due to a Balogun mistake. For me, the parts of his game that need work are probably fixable through coaching. That isn't the case for most players, so I am pretty excited about him. Edit: Having said that, I would like to see what his crossing is like. A good bit of that is natural skill and not really teachable.
  18. Just watched their highlights. Aside from their goal, a header from a corner, they didn’t even create anything. Two shots well over the bar and one low and easily saved from the edge of the box were their best chances. They didn’t register a shot on target during their “rally” aside from that header. Yet “despite rally” still made it into the headline.
  19. It’s absolutely bizarre. They are the very 1st story on both Sport and Football. Despite the fact nothing even happened, big team beats wee team. We are the 8th story in the Football section despite the fact that it was a notable away win for a British team with a goal of the tournament contender.
