New Squad Numbers

Recommended Posts

Could they not be seen as an indication of who Smith sees as being his first team squad?

:box: :P

they could be but when you look at them some just don't make sense, to me anyway. They have not been that important in the last few seasons have they?

Mo Edu - no2? is he a right back now ...........

Charlie Adam - no11 ?

Gow 15 before the likes of Miller and Lafferty......

Madjid - no 24 ?

For me I don't read to much into it :D

Probably a combination of personal preferences and a lottery. There could also be some players who care about their number and some who just think it's irrelevant. I'm 100% sure that it won't affect or be reflective of the team choice.

After Kaunas and the Scottish Cup final last season, I hope Walter's idea for McCulloch doesn't involve a midfield role. He did not too badly playing the holding role on a couple of occasions last season, but even then, aside from the Milan friendly were talking about SPL opposition where a holding midfielder shouldn't have been necessary.

Hopefully Walter's idea for Lee (other than bench warmer) is to look after his pal Barry's jersey until a suitable successor can be found.
