Boogie, McCulloch, Thomson all OUT of tomorrow's game

Recommended Posts

Rangers are likely to be without Madjid Bougherra for Sunday's Old Firm derby as the defender is suffering from flu.

Lee McCulloch could replace him if he recovers from illness, while Kyle Lafferty could start up front even though Kenny Miller might be fit.

Celtic defender Andreas Hinkel and winger Paddy McCourt, who are both carrying knocks, did not train and will have fitness tests on Saturday.

Midfielder Scott Brown will continue to play despite a nagging ankle injury.

Didn't see this posted.. my confidence just wained slightly.

If Bougherra is out.. what's the other option other than McCulloch? Walter would never throw Danny Wilson into the cauldron and clearly he doesn't fancy Papac as a centre back which rules out nudging him in one and playing Smith at left back/

Playing either Papac or Wilson there is preferable by a country mile in my mind since they're both actually defenders. The closest LM should get to the back four is the holding role in front of them. Lee McCulloch at CB in an OF game = penalty to mhanks. If he didn't give one away with his over-active elbows or a late challenge, they'd get one off him somehow. Add to this the fact that McCulloch just doesn't have the required experience at CB. Wilson is a vastly more experienced CB than LM.

This is mentioned in the short match preview on the beeb site - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/8285356.stm ...Traynor is rattling on about it on Sportsound as well, making out like it's almost certain that Bougherra is out for tomorrow, but I don't believe a word of what Jim-TheShitStirrer-Traynor has to say unless it's confirmed officially. Could still be pre-Old Firm BS, but this so-called 'flu' has indeed been spreading in the team since Davis had it.
