Thee Ronaldo retires

Recommended Posts

If he hadn't been badly injured so often in his career I think he might have won himself the title of the greatest player ever. He would certainly have broken more records, but unfortunately he missed a good number of years during his career when you add up all his time out injured.

Wouldnt have been greatest player ever, not in my opinion anyway. Nowhere near as lethal as Beattie or Jeffers

Seriously though - very, very good player - but not greatest ever IMO.

Everything went pear-shaped for him after WC 98, except for scoring both goals in the 2002 WC final :D

The original. The legend.

He was some player before that incident prior to the France 98 WC Final.

He wasn't after? Seeing as he scored the goals that won the World Cup 4 years later. Knocked Man Utd out single handedly.

His knees ruined him more than the fit imho.

Sad to see him retire but he has fairly put on the pounds.

Ronnie will surely go down as one of the greatest in the last 25 years. A tank of a man with that turn of pace. Always mind when playing for Brazil he was through one on one,did a few step overs and left the keeper on his arse before slotting home. Was a shame he's been blighted by injury but still left some unforgettable memories.

He wasn't the same player after the WC in France in 1998. He was still a fantastic player but lost a bit of his pace and skill.
