Police chiefs give Celtic and Rangers list of banned songs in sectarian crackdown

Recommended Posts

its already biting us on the arse. We are now portrayed has a bunch of mindless bigots by all and sundry and the mhanks are having a field day with us from every angle and were providing the amnunition.

we cant have another performance like the cup final. We could end up being deducted points and losing the league. So wether we like it or not the songs have to stop.

i don't, for one minute, believe this would ever happen.

we have to stop running scared of this nonsense. and we have to stop just doing as everyone wants us to do. the catholic church and the mhedia in this country might have an agenda on this and they might want something - but why should we just give into them and give them what we want ??

sing it loud and sing it proud - we are doing NOTHING illegal or nothing wrong !!!!

TBB is sung to the tune of "Marching through Georgia" A memorable composition whose lyrics contain the unforgettable lines " All the Hootenannies were dancing all around, even the potatos were jumping from the ground. As we were marching through Georgia" Let's try that version on them.

Unfortunately a judge has already determined that the Famine song is illegal so the police will arrest you for singing it. If you want to fight it in the courts then that option is there but you will have to have a very strong character and a fat wallet for paying lawyers. Better not to sing it to be honest.

so when tens of thousands of bears are singing it - what are they going to do ?? do they arrest 8,000 of us when we go to the piggery ? did they arrest 25,000 of us at Hampden ?? etc. etc.

Unite and we will win this no problem. Let the police try and arrest thousands of us at once - they simpy can't do anything.

I'll continue singing it.

Everyone is open to their own choice but the Police have said they will pick people out of the stands. You are right they cannot arrest 8000 people but they will pick out some of the most vocal. If they do pick you out don't expect the other 7999 to help you as all they will do is boo and you will be the one to foot the bill and gain a criminal record.

over the past few years, it's been sung by hundreds of thousands of bears - if you take into account number of times sang multipled by number of fans singing - and there have probably only been a handful of arrests. So their 'hit rate' is miniscule in the big scheme of things.

IF the Rangers support unite for a change we can win this. But our problem will be that we are one of the most divided sets of fans in world football. On the odd occassions when we unite we are unbeatable, but far too often we don't support each other and let the taigs and the taig mhedia in this country walk all over us.

I thought the cry was 'No Surrender' ? Seems to be the exact opposite in many ways for this support these days, which is hugely disappointing.

It's the oldest game in the book, isn't it. In fact it's called propaganda. You issue unfounded scare stories, based upon half-truth, inferences and a few crumbs of adjacent credibility .... and voila, you control the gullible. Because no one wants to be arrested, hauled through the courts. Of course what they don't tell you is that the same police would shite themselves if asked to arrest hundreds - a handful is OK but ffs don't ask them to cross the line and arrest more than that.

It's time someone asked the offended to face up in this madness of accusation and victimhood. Of course there is overt and profound hatred and suspicion of Catholics in this country, it's self-deception to deny it. The real question is why? Why, in the 21st century, are so many people in a modern society still both angry and offended by the catholic church? And why are the authorities in this country so reluctant to debate this problem, because a problem is exactly what it is, for all of us, including members of the religious cult itself. If only more energy was devoted to addressing what causes so much negative feeling towards the catholic church instead of sweeping it all under the carpet by dismissing under the catchalls of bigotry and sectarianism. Perhaps if the catholic hierarchy was more geuinely concerned with improving it's image and spent less time attacking and manipulating every aspect of society outside the diocese, we might find a little more harmony in this divided land. All the Catholics are achieving, all that the government and police are achieving with this sort of strategy is to prolong and deepen the divide.

Forget the songs, 'let the people sing', and let the catholic church start building bridges instead of resentment.

Yes, it would be naive to think they'll ignore it as there are too many. They just root out the biggest offenders or even those on the edge at random. They'll probably video you singing it and you'll have little defence in court. They could even do it retrospectively by counting which seat your are on.

Random arrests of offenders with resultant fines and criminal records will soon put most people off.

I've been saying for years that supporters need to be more clever about this. Defiant belligerence just makes you look like a bigoted dunce in end.

Sing TBB but change the lyrics - "Rangers Boys" and "Celtic blood" would be enough and what does any intelligent Rangers fan have against that?

Even the so called "Famine Song" could be changed to "Why don't you feck off?, If you don't like Great Britain, Why don't you feck off?"

F.T.P. and NPOR need to be dropped altogether as there is no excuse.

Then there needs to be campaign to outlaw, "Go home ya Huns", "Sad Orange Bastard" and "Soon there will be no protestants at all" as well as all references to the I.R.A. or anti-British/Protestant/Orange sentiment.
