Rangers: For Sale (Again!)

Recommended Posts

If they are starting with derisory bids while calling on people not to renew their tickets then they obviously don't see time as an issue. It's all a bit concerning.

Green says £20m; McColl offers £6.5. Not a huge surprise both are miles off to begin with.

You're right about time - season ticket boycotts sound good in theory but could affect the newco's ability to trade. McColl (or Ng or whoever) need to buy quickly or remove the season ticket threat.

The figures that were getting touted to the press , off record was £10 million , McColl hopes for around the £7 million mark

why has it taken the new consortium so long to come forward this all started on february the 14th .

but i for one would like to see the walter bid come up trumps anything to keep the club in the rangers family .

Because any consortium led by or involving any 'Rangers Family' who went on to liquidate the old company would have tarred their reputation &/or business ventures past & present with a "you killed The Rangers" tag.

Also, there would only ever be a select few who would be willing to spend the money on legal fees & such to vett whether the newco route would be an achievable one. No consortium, without proper consultation that I would imagine wouldn't be cheap, could be certain that what CG & co have done would have been achievable.

Now that the dirty work is done, a new bidder can come in & buy a fresh company, no debts, no tax case, no season ticket deal & press forward with what needs to be done to have a sustainable & successful club.

So what is a debt free Rangers worth? It's not a money making business and so bans from Europe etc have no effect - you just have to run the club within its means.

However, there is the immediate need to invest in the club which adds to the purchase price - it's a doer-upper. Although some of the money for that could be raised by the fans.

I would say you'd want to pay an amount, including investment, that you can realise in a later sale. Basically you just don't want to lose money.

Previous highest price has been £6m, last price was £5.5m plus costs and time.

Green will not want to sell without a significant profit and the consortium will not want to pay over the odds.

If pushed to guess, I'd say about £12m which agrees with the previously proposed amount by GovanAllan.
