Lloyds, due to the banking crisis during which they required pounds 9bn in government help, saw one of the few opportunities to rake in some debts. A drop given their size, but a drop nonetheless. Zeus ... well, just imagine, for a fleeting second, that UEFA and Platini get their wish and solely want clubs living within their means competing in Europe in years to come (sporting integrity springs to mind, the tax abuse the Spanish clubs happily do, the "cheating" of the English with oil and ludicrous TV money), they (Zeus that is) snatch themselves a club for essentially very little money and investment, a good chance (in years to come) to participate in Europe while living within its means, a club that not to long ago reached a European Cup final. Reality may see it turn out differently, not least given the power of the big guns.
