Charles Green claims Mike Ashley will earn Rangers £10m a year

Recommended Posts

Only if you sold every shirt yourself. It's not about actual price on the ticket, it's about how much profit you generate on the sale to a shop/supplier. That £20 shirt you mention could well have been supplied with a 50% markup to Rangers/Umbro, so the price it retails for is irrelevant; if a shop wants to cut its profit margin for whatever reason that is that shop's business and doesn't (shouldn't, anyway) impact on the value to the supplier.

There are two major sources of income from shirts. One is the shirt deal itself, which could quite conceivably bring in £10m over a certain period of years. The other is from the individual sales. That could be all wrapped up in one to - say - Sports Direct for a similar amount over a certain amount of years, or individual profit.

The normal doom and gloom merchants, why dont you just admit you want Green and Rangers to fail? Would save us all reading this stuff over and over again.

Have I missed something i.e. gloom and doom merchants, or is it another thread being referred to?

its not a matter of doom and gloom the lower figure would indeed be great but the fact is the higher figure is highly unrealistic.

is it though mate? celtic bring in between £12m and £15m annually from merchandising, why cant we?

that's turnover. if green means 5 to 10 million turnover from Ashley not only is it possible its piss poor.

we got 20 plus in turnover from our shops.

We gave away our merchandising to JJB did we not? So if we do make that sort of money then are JJB not making most of it? Surely it would be better if Charles Green brings it back to Rangers where we getter better control of it albeit through another outlet be that Ashley or whoever.

Taken from:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19225698

JJB Sports and Rangers entered a 10-year merchandising contract in 2006, when the Glasgow club received an initial payment of £18m with a guaranteed minimum annual royalty of £3m.

Going by that we can't be making anywhere near £20m
