Rangers statement on the stripping of titles

Recommended Posts

but how do you fight stripping of titles. a fine they can't enforce but titles is different.

my bet is we've just guaranteed title stripping.

we probably have also made sure we can go to court over it. which is good.

we will need to see how all the cards fall in the end.

Stripping of titles isnt the only punishment they can enforce. There are others.

Stripping of titles is what they want and it looks like Green alludes to this in his statement. That is what they have always wanted, other than when they needed to blackmail us into Div 1.

I am not convinced Green is right in that they cant strip titles because we arent part of the SPL. We WERE part of the SPL in the years in question so they surely can retroactively strip those titles.

But it seems that Mr Green fully believes that diminishes the value of the club and will sue the SPL for the lost value in the event that titles are stripped. I am no lawyer but that is a lawsuit I think he could win.

It was already guaranteed as soon as it was announced that Harper McLeod were involved and Nimmo Smith was going to chair the SPL's wee kangaroo court, so this stance by the Club is a very good move, but potentially a dangerous one too because the SFA will no doubt get involved.

Why would the SFA get involved ? Surely this is a matter between club and SPL ?

The SFA really dont have a horse in this race - unless it is taken to court given UEFA's FEAR of proper law systems.

â??The decision we have taken has not been taken lightly. There are powerful representatives from Clubs within the SPL â?? not all of them by any means â?? who appear hell bent on inflicting as much damage on Rangers as possible. It is lamentable that the Board and executive of the organisation have not been able to deal with this appropriately. We do not hold every SPL club in the same regard. Several clubs were placed in an invidious position and we believe their interests were not best served by those in more powerful positions.

â??Furthermore, as a Club we are not satisfied that the issue of conflict of interest relating to advisers to the SPL has been satisfactorily dealt with.

My guess is even although legal advice was saught regarding the statement, that this particular section above will have the SPL & SFA absolutely reeling! :fish:

probably in fairness. though the chance to stay afloat with a huge fine may well have been where they were headed.

Why would the SFA get involved ?

I thought that one of the provisions of the SFA granting the transfer of our SFA membership to the newco was on the basis that the Club would participate in any further actions including the SPL's dual contract investigation.

I disagree.

I dont think this statement makes other punishments any more likely at all - the SPL have been driven to strip us of titles since long before this announcement was made.

In fact, your post looks like nothing more than another anti-Green, Green just wants to save money type post. What makes it less likely a fine will be given ? What makes it more likely that some other punishment will be given ? Just more anti-Green rhetoric from you GS.

I'm not saying he's going about this the wrong way.

history will determine that.

I do think this was heading for a big fine to keep the SPL afloat but not anymore.

Could be right.
