Ally in track suit

Recommended Posts

There's a standard of clothes that are acceptable in most work situations, and in some non-work situations. It wouldn't be acceptable to turn up in a string vest and ripped jeans in my office. My dress code may change depending on whether I was just in the office or meeting someone externally, but in answer to your question, no, I am not free to wear whatever clothes I want.

It's all about standards. I expect the Rangers directors to sit in the directors box with a suit and not a t-shirt and jeans, no matter how much they may want to.

Is Ally's current choice acceptable? Yes. However I personally don't think it looks good and would much prefer him as Rangers manager, a position that should hold great respect, to be a standard setter and not just wear whatever is the least he can get away with.

As for the "tracksuit makes the players feel he is part of the team" argument, I just don't agree with that for 2 reasons:

1. He is still an inexperienced manager who should be trying to establish his authority and one way to do that is through dressing like it.

2. He can do that the rest of the week behind closed doors. On a match day, he is representing a great institution in public and he should dress like it.

Directors or Manager in the stand I can go with you on that, but I feel the dugout is a different kettle of fish and a track suit is perfectly suited. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on that. I have to wear my boss's clothes in work which I am happy to do as it saves the wife a lot of washing.:)

Is your boss still Tracy Smith?
