Hearts secure immediate future after club strike deal with taxman over unpaid debt

13 Nov 2012 18:52

THE Tynecastle club will pay back the outstanding £449,692.04 in two payments with the debt to be settled by December 3.

HEARTS have done a deal with the taxman to safeguard the immediate future of the Tynecastle club.

They have agreed term with HMRC that will allow them to pay the outstanding £449,692.04 in two instalments. The deal means Hearts' clash with St Mirren at the weekend won't be their last.

Hearts said the deal was made possible after a number of first-team players deferred their November salaries to a later date.

The good news for Jambos fans came just hours after it was revealed businessmen were hoping to buy out majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov.

In a statement of Hearts' official website the club said: "Make no mistake, the fans and players have been instrumental in achieving this extension with HMRC.

"The supporters' efforts have been quite phenomenal. However, it is essential that they continue all their work to assist us in meeting financial targets at the club.??"It is imperative that they continue with this level of backing in the weeks ahead until the Share Issue closes on December 19."

Sergejus added: "We are pleased that we have been granted this extension as it acknowledges the strenuous efforts that are going on to ensure this club continues to contribute to employment, society, community and football in Scotland.

"I also want to acknowledge the support received from political and supporter groups. Their direct action is helping the club through a very important period.

"We have a lot of hard work ahead of us in order to fully rectify our financial position but with further backing and ongoing fundraising by supporters we know that we have a very positive opportunity to create a strong club for the future."

Another penalty from the SFA for late payment? It also seems Mr Salmond has aided a helping hand

I read this story at work today. I can't believe they had the audacity to actually say we were trying to cash in on their downfall when EVERY SPL team has kicked us at our lowest since February.

Absent minded Fucking idiots.

Karma's a bitch.
