Commercial revival under way at Rangers........

Recommended Posts

We don't have short term owners though, we have investors be it short term or long term it shouldn't make a difference if the right people are put in place for the long term running of the club.

We get too caught up in the belief that the owner is the one to call the shots after years of Murray.

I would actually like to know if it is totally true what is written. We could have sold McGregor for xmillion. Broadfoot Wilson, Naismith, Boyd,Ness. Are we really so far behind other teams when it comes to buying and selling. i doubt it.

No idea in the past but I always thought Bain wasnt the best in getting value for money when it came to buying and selling players. Going forward though we have to realise our star players are up for grabs if the right price comes in. If the club is run correctly a replacement should be ready from the reserves or a replacement already earmarked at a price that allows the club to make a profit when he is sold on.

There is Dortmund losing Lewandoski (spelling) can you imagine if we were in the same position as them and we announced the star striker is offski. The place would go into meltdown with screams of no ambition, but Dortmund will keep on rolling on, yes they may take a dip next season if the goals dry up, but they will find a replacement and things will get back on track.

I know which model I would rather have at our club.

Totally agree GA. We need to adopt better long term thinking throughout the whole club. For example if we do have a decent talent, don't spend the whole friggin time worrying about if and when he leaves, go on the premise that there is a good chance he will leave therefore make sure you have set plans in place to deal with it. I hate to say it but that's what the mhanks have been doing over the last few years. They might lose Hooper but they have a steady stream of other strikers in their squad and I'm sure they will have other irons in the fire to deal with this.

Good piece from Richard Wilson and I like the fact that he's highlighted the silence of our director of sports development Craig Mather.

Instead of those now running our club playing to the gallery with joke filled patter and moonbeams about potential turnover aimed at maintaining or increasing the value of their shares, it would be refreshing to hear about some real top flight football club strategies being drafted out and implemented.
