125 SPL Players Out Of Contract At The End Of This Season

Recommended Posts

I posted this in the football chat, but thought I'd put it in here:

As the SPL enters its post-split phase, there are still more than 100 players who are out of contract come the end of May.

In January, STV revealed the 143 players who were free to find a new club under Bosman rules as they entered the final six months of their deals.

Since then 16 new contracts have been handed to stars, 14 players have left their clubs and five have arranged free transfers this summer.

That still leaves 125 who are out of contract, with that number including youngsters who have graduated to the first team of the club since the turn of the year.

Relegation-haunted Dundee remain the side with the most players due to depart â?? 26 of their squad are out of contract.

Ross County have 16 players coming to the end of deals and St Johnstone have 15.

The list also includes 23 players who are on loan and due to return to their parent clubs at the end of the campaign.

Law, Humphrey, Hateley & Higdon for definate.

What about Concalves from St Mirren????

If Alexander is offski, I would also take Randolph form Motherwell.

......and to REALLY throw the cat among the pigeons - Kris Boyd

Some decent players available who could really add something to the team, without a massive outlay.

Can I have Owain Tudur-Jones? Cracking name! :D

BTW, wasn't Iain Vigurs one of the better chaps in the SPL?

Sidenote: you do wonder why all these SPL teams have that many contracts running out? If some teams keep that up, there's hardly a team left for them next season, unless they fill it with other freebies.

Makes you wonder if some of these clubs only offer 1 year deals......then hope to get them to resign before the contract expires - probably depending on how the team is doing. Motherwell for example have done very well this season....I would imagine some of the out of contract players may well want to stay & see how things go next year.

One year deals easier to budget for would be my guest.
