Official: Rangers are most successful club

Recommended Posts

RANGERS really ARE Scotlandâ??s most successful football club, ad watchdogs have ruled.

The Ibrox outfit sparked a string of complaints when they made the boast in commercials three months ago.

Critics claimed the slogan was misleading because oldco Gers â?? who won 114 trophies â?? went into liquidation last year. But a leaked decision by the Advertising Standards Authority said consumers would realise the claim â??related to the club rather than to its owner and operatorâ?.

It added: â??We therefore concluded that it was not misleading for this ad to make reference to RFCâ??s history.â?

The commercials trumpeting the Light Blues as â??Scotlandâ??s most successful clubâ? appeared on radio and in the Press ahead of their home match with Annan Athletic in March.

Just weeks later, the ASA launched a probe after receiving 78 complaints from rival fans.

But it prompted an angry response from Rangers who branded the investigation â??ridiculousâ?.

They later handed over a letter from the European Club Association recognising their history.

And they provided evidence from Lord Nimmo Smithâ??s independent probe into player payments that said a club could â??continue in existenceâ? even if they shifted to â??another ownerâ?.

Last night a Rangers spokesman said: â??The club was never in any doubt that this would be the outcome.

â??It was a ridiculous claim and we knew the ASA would take the same view as the football authorities and Lord Nimmo Smith.â?

The ASA declined to comment on the leaked ruling, but did not dispute its accuracy.

Rangers have won 54 top-flight league titles, 33 Scottish Cups and 27 League Cups.

Club owners (on variour levels) change all over the world, with no history or status being lost. This just shows the Scum up for what they are, a sad and heinous lot that brings the name of our species into disrepute.

And their new hate filled, bigoted campaign is in full flow attacking our WATP saying!

Apparently our black socks with the red tops were symbolic of being "up to our knees in f**** blood".....

They've gone right over the edge, no coming back for some of them.

It's no recent thing - they've been peddling that shite for years. No coming back? Some septic fans have never been on the same planet as the rest of us.

Paranoid FC fans will never let up in their attempts to subdue our love for our club. They've been finding things to criticize about us since I was a lad. They went on about us not flying an Irish flag, not signing a Catholic player, singing this, singing that, etc., etc., etc. Traditionally we have and most likely always will carry a vast Protestant support - is this a crime in their eyes? Their club, wants everyone to know of their proud Irish Catholic heritage ... but sadly to say it's not being reciprocated.

I note they are not mentioned. "Rival fans" = euphemism for "obsessed pond scum".

Sorry to all ponds and their inhabiting scum for the analogy
