i doubt ally was ever under any pressure.

 

greens weakness because of his association with whyte certainly made him unable to sack ally.

 

Ally's always under pressure. That's a big part of the job. I don't think there was much risk of Green sacking him. Not because Green didn't want to but because he didn't fancy the consequences of taking such an action.

 

It all comes down to public opinion and opportunity. Green would have sacked him last Summer, but quickly realised he might then have a problem selliing season tickets. However, as soon as fans started to become restless with results and performances last season, Green did have a brief window of opportunity to hand Ally his P45. My guess is that Green was too busy engineering his own escape route out of Ibrox at the time to be complicating matters by sacking the manager.
