Sandaza contract finally terminated in mutual agreement

Recommended Posts

The Club can confirm tonight that we have reached a mutual agreement with Fran Sandaza to terminate his contract.*

In other words Green sacked him without a solid case against him and we've ended up having to pay the player off.

Sacking him was not one of Green's cleverer decisions.

It might have helped the club's case if Green had stuck to the story that Sandaza had breached his contract, but during the infamous train wreck interview with STV's Peter Adam Smith, one of Green's colossal, monumental woopsies was to practically admit that Sandaza (and other staff) had been let go to cut costs.

At the end of the day, Sandaza had still breached his contract, had he not?

It seemed as if he probably had, but if you remember correctly, when we discussed it at the time the general consensus here was that his dismissal was only fair play on Green's part if Green thought he had a rock solid case for the dismissal based on the player definitely breaching his contract. Sandaza then almost immediately challenged the dismissal and it almost instantly looked as though maybe Green's case against the player wasn't actually watertight. So, now here we are, several months down the line and although we don't have much detail, it would certainly look as though there's a good chance that Sandaza's contract termination didn't stand up to scrutiny and that the player has now been paid off in a "mutual agreement". If that is indeed the case, then it's just another example of very sloppy work from Green & co that's ultimately costing the club money.

PS - Moved this discussion into it's own thread, so that we're not derailing the transfer rumours thread with several pages discussion about Sandaza.

Obviously not, or else there would be no need for the mutual contract termination.

Also it was hardly the biggest crime in the world and didn't warrant that sort of action.
