Former Rangers chief executive Charles Green has been appointed as a consultant to the club.

The man whose consortium bought Rangersâ?? assets in a £5.5m deal last summer stood down from his role earlier this year.

In a statement to the London Stock Exchange on Friday, Rangers confirmed the return of Mr Green to a role with the club.

It read: "The board of Rangers is pleased to announce that it has today appointed Charles Green as a consultant to the company.

"Mr Green's role will be to promote the interests of Rangers Football Club, specifically assisting with shareholder relations and advising the company on its capital structure."

As a consultant I should hope he spends most his time keeping Rangers in fine health and not gobbing off to the media.

Things are going to get pretty interesting.
