Senior City figures are urging Rangers to â??sort outâ? its internal problems â?? or face the prospect of a â??catastrophicâ? collapse in the value of the clubâ??s share price.

The appointment on Friday of Charles Green as a consultant, with a remit to manage investor relations, has provoked a huge backlash north of the border.

Within hours of controversial former chief executive Green rejoining the Ibrox backroom team, a third of â??Gers investors had called for three of the club's current directors â?? including the new CEO and Finance Director â?? to be sacked.

To make matters worse, ill-judged comments by Green in the Scottish media at the weekend â?? just before the shock 2-1 cup defeat to Forfar â?? resulted in manager, Ally McCoist, launching a furious attack on his former boss, labelling him an â??embarrassmentâ?.

Rangers shares have plummeted in value by more than £34 million since December, and there is growing concern that the fallen Scottish giants could be heading for another financial crisis unless the current situation is quickly brought under control.

There are currently 65 million shares in circulation, with a combined value of just £27m â?? a paltry £5m more than when the club floated on the Stock Market on 19 December 2013.

â??Rangers have got to sort themselves out â?? and do so quickly,â? commented football analyst, Mark Ward. â??Prior to the fallout at the weekend, there were mounting concerns about some of the decisions being made by the club.

â??Bringing Green back into the fold has backfired spectacularly and is likely to do major damage to the value of the club in the long term if the Ibrox house isnâ??t put into order.

â??Green needs to be jettisoned quickly and investors reassured. You canâ??t have the likes of Ally McCoist coming out and saying what he said without there being consequences. If Rangers donâ??t act decisively, the consequences could be catastrophic.â?

Green resigned as Rangers CEO two months ago after it was claimed he had a secret pact with disgraced former owner, Craig Whyte. An internal investigation recently cleared Green, who currently owns 7% of the club, paving the way for his reappointment on 2 August.

I suppose so, but if the city investors insist on things being 'sorted out' - which can only be the sale of the GreenCo stake - things may hurry along a bit. The more pressure on them the better, if it brings about a quicker resolution of this nonsense.

He's a tim.

I dont think it matters much.

Look at our club, look at all the in-fighting, look at the newly appointed consultant (employed for shareholder relations and capital structure advice) making statements about the playing side of the club, look at the fact our Chairman was rumoured to be quitting (and has now done so) and it is hardly a pish to suggest that "city figures" suggest we need to sort out the chaos.

You dont need to be a Tim, or a Bluenose, or a genius, to work out that it is SPOT ON in terms of what needs done.

There IS chaos at our club, and to hide behind the "He's a Tim so it cannae be true" mentality is naivety in its purest form.
