Postponed: Liverpool v Arsenal

Recommended Posts

Liverpool's Carling Cup quarter-final tie with Arsenal has been postponed due to heavy fog at Anfield.

Referee Martin Atkinson made an initial inspection at 1815 GMT, but with the fog thickening, the official decided to call the game off at 1845 GMT.

With both teams involved in four competitions, no date has yet been given for when this Carling Cup tie can be played at Anfield.

Liverpool and Arsenal are also due to meet in the FA Cup third round.

Rafa and Wenger both wanted to play it in that!!

They also wanted to switch it to tonight instead but that got the big no-no aswell.

The amount of games these 2 have to play now is silly. What happens if they draw there game in the 3rd round in the FA cup next month - they will have to reply that aswell!!

To be fair to Rafa and Wenger the fog lifted by the time the game was supposed to kick off, the game could have easily been played at 7.45.

Imo the ref could have delayed the game for half an hour and see how the conditions develop.

Funny as feck when sky were interviewing the ref and the liverpool players were using the ref for target practice one even managed to knock the light on the camera out :D

Liverpool's postponed Carling Cup quarter-final against Arsenal has been rearranged for Tuesday 9 January.

The match will take place only three days after the two clubs meet in an FA Cup third round tie at Anfield.

Wednesday night's scheduled tie on Merseyside was called off an hour before kick-off because of heavy fog.

The new date was originally that of one of the semi-finals but both clubs' packed schedules meant this was the first available date.
