Daly Mail story re soldiers/Rangers and "Nazi style salutes"

Recommended Posts

The irony of the Hitler loving Daily Mail, the oddity of years old photographs being used for a story near Remembrance Day 2013 aside - this is causing huge damage to us. It's already been on Sky and reference made to "Rangers' supporters salute"

Maybe the supporters raising money for the QC to protect our right to sing about the UVF can have a go at making Nazi, sorry Red Hand, salutes acceptable too. This is 'our culture' after all.

That may be so, gunslinger - but they have succeeded in smearing us all as Nazi lovers across the UK. Apparently it is front page "news" despite the age and spread across two pages in the English editions. We have many enemies who are out to get us - but "we" keep shooting ourselves anyway, not so much in the foot but in the heart and brain, or at the very least "we" give our enemies the ammunition to gun us down.

Certain people did not manage to finish us off as a football institution. Once this became clear, the sectarian spin doctors reared their heads again and wave upon wave of their attacks roll over us.

Note ... regarding the lines related to the picture:

"Shocking: These two soldiers making Nazi-style salutes in front of the Union Flag have been investigated by Army chiefs"

Now, that is an assumption made by the editor, who ignores the Red Hand on the flag being shown. In spite of knowing what it is meant to show, as there's an article on the very topic included here.

But rather sinisterly, the lines with regard to the real issue some had back then about the Red Hand Salute, an issue that had been cleared (sic!) with UEFA gets:

Suspected Red Hand Salute

The British soldiers' suspected salutes are thus being marked out as being true "Nazi salutes" by the editor, yet those who where deemed not to be Nazi salutes became "suspected" Red Hand salutes? These subtle tactics lead to one target, and one target alone. And you don't need to be paranoid to know what this target is.

Advice to the soldiers: paint them red.

Painting them red would not stop the story, note:

"But Mr Mann, the MP for Bassetlaw, added: ‘Whether they call it a “Red Hand salute” or whatever makes absolutely no difference – this is one of the most offensive gestures they could make in the modern world.’"

Which is exactly how the vast majority of people reading the story will feel, alongside wondering what the hell any of it has to do with a football club and how sad Rangers' fans are. This is like incredibly free and powerful propaganda to our enemies.

Tragically we are seen as the Nazi club while the Daily Mail and Septic fans - both big Hitler fans back in the day - jeer at us.

This is another piece of baggage we need to shed for good because it doesn't matter whether or not it's a red hand salute and whether or not it should or shouldn't be deemed offensive. The bottom line is that it looks like a Nazi salute and Nazi salutes are highly offensive to a massive number of people, not just to enemies of Rangers.
