Matthew Wood appointed as Rangers Secretary

Recommended Posts

Outsourcing the Company Secretary position is not at all unusual (some solicitors offer a specialist service) and may well be a more cost effective solution than employing someone directly. That said I would think it is surprising in a company the size of Rangers but BD might be better placed to advise at what level a Company Secretary is normally an in house appointment.

As you say, for a company of the size of Rangers, you'd expect it to be done in-house, even if the Financial Director had to get some advice on the complexities of dealing with a quoted company.

They wouldn't employ someone specifically to do the job, but if they don't have anyone that can do the job, you have to wonder who is preparing cashflows and budgets.

Small companies without expertise may out-source but it's not that onerous or time-consuming and most should be able to do it themselves.

Or I'd do it at a very competitive rate.

Couldn't possibly have a fan privy to the goings on though!

Appointed 13/11/14?

Pretty sure that may well be an action to avoid being in breach of the Companies Act, perhaps the new NOMAD is actually doing its job.

We employ in-house Legal Counsel that should be well within his capabilities but in saying that through experience they don't seem that familiar with the finer points of the Companies Act .
