if charlie hebdo taught us anything it's that freedom of speech and a right to offend is precious and must be allowed to flourish.

Yes, todays society is trying to introduce a different mindset regards public protest.

There is a general situation which is ripe for widespread public protest and even civil disobedience given some of the worrying tendencies in the distribution of wealth and the marginalisation of large groups.

Efforts to dumb down, stigmatize, deter, new legislation are geared to stop people from expressing themselves via protest. It's a stealthly way of reducing free speech/civil liberties or the threat that they may pose to the status quo.

On two broadcasts over the weekend, Tom English has drawn attention, "to another bout of sectarian singing" on three separate occasions. Don't worry, it hasn't been missed, in fact it's being celebrated by the usual suspects.

The Herald's Senior Reporter, Gerry Braiden is on the front page today, putting a particular spin on the Wetherspoons story. He is controlling the narrative, preparing the ground for the eventuality of any troubles surrounding the up coming old firm match. Gerry is pointing a finger, leading the reader to conclude the major cause of the bother.

Get it into your head that some folk won't like you simply because of who you support. Once you deal with that, life will become much better for you. :tu:

I'm sorry, but this need to be loved by everyone isn't something which I can comprehend.

It's not about being loved.

The AIM is to conduct a successful legitimate protest against a clueless Board that cares not a jot for Rangers supporters' sensitivities.

Achieving the aim demands both individual and collective discipline. Thus, nothing should be allowed that runs interference with the agreed message to be promoted. Songs, surging, snowballing, physical confrontation with the Polis, ................. etc are unwanted and unnecessary diversions. The various media should have been gathered at a desired spot, and at least a couple of designated Bears should be waiting to provide the narrative.

Done properly, in fact even done half way properly, we could have blamed the Board for Friday evening's weather. Instead, the accepted wisdom is that events were, "an embarrassment to Scottish football". Only by a disciplined effort to change it, can we change it. Adhere to the AIM.

think our true problems lie in constantly demanding and voicing snap decision on outcomes we know next to nothing about. We demand each fan picks a side without any of the variables being established beforehand.

Our true problems have been sitting in the boardroom for the past few years.

Finding solutions has proven difficult but it seems at least now the VAST majority recognise where the main problem lies......... ...and why we have got such a black hole in our finances.

Friday's events are a positive for me.

It was about time that the fans stood up to this. Enough is enough.

I also believe it will send out a strong message to 'neutral' shareholders and the like. I would imagine their reaction will be something along the lines of: "wow, these fans really are angry - this situation can't be allowed to continue and the club is going nowhere unless there is change" This in turn should lead to a greater number of shareholders (individual and institutional) siding with King/the good guys.

The protests should not subside - if anything we should be upping the ante even more. We need to go for the kill.

I see no reason whatsoever why this message will not be taken on board by the rank and file that it is aimed at.
