Rangers' captain Lee McCulloch struggles to take in the Ramsdens Cup defeat

LEE McCULLOCH will fight the two-match ban he was offered for allegedly stamping on Raith’s Dale Carrick at the weekend.

The Rangers skipper, 36, stands accused of violent conduct during the Scottish Cup defeat on Sunday.

McCulloch’s hearing will be held tomorrow. If he is found guilty he will miss Friday’s Championship clash with Hibs and his next Scottish Cup tie. His ban could also be increased.

Some fans were incensed at McCulloch during the QTS Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic a week ago – accusing him of stamping on John Guidetti. But the SFA found no evidence.

Some may be hoping that big lee misses the Hibs game. It would have been better if Streete wasn't injured though.

Looking at the replay, it seemed purely accidental. You have to wonder whether some people accusing him have played any physical sport never mind just football. He had to land somewhere and looked to cushion his impact in contrast to maliciously trying to cause damage. Bet the guy wasn't unduly injured.

Whether you want him to play is another story.

Fairly straightforward matter of intent or couldn't avoid putting his foot on the player.

Jig is very cute when it comes to the dirtier side of the game. The previous week in the League Cup at Hampden there were at least two actions from him which could have seen him given a straight red if he hadn't been so cute about it and avoided detection.
