Llambias, Leach and Easdale suspended

Recommended Posts

In response to Rangers' announcement, Easdale's spokesman Jack Irvine issued a statement through Press Association Sport which read: "We are surprised at the announcement as you cannot suspend a director under the law of Scotland.

"We also note that they talk about an investigation. Sandy Easdale welcomes that as he has absolutely nothing to fear."

CEO does that don't they? And he'll have dealt with the technicalities

Certainly should have been the CEO but my source is reliable; there may well have been some split in the responsibilities.

I think I am also correct in saying that he was the one who was responsible for a lot of fixture arrangements including disputing ticket pricing with away clubs where Rangers thought supoprters were being overcharged.

If it's true about his wife getting punted then they were hardly doing him any special favours either.

I'm uncomfortable with us having too much involvement from David Murray's latter era but again I'll assume he didn't have much involvement in that side of things, and if he's good at his job then we may as well keep him

He joined the company in either 90 or 91 so he's been about for a while.

RANGERS Football Club announce today that Derek Llambias, Barry Leach and Sandy Easdale have been suspended from their duties pending an investigation.

It is also noted that Mr Llambias and Mr Leach, along with Sandy Easdale, have been advised that a resolution to remove them as directors of the Company has been received by the Company. A meeting may be required for this purpose but it is hoped that this will not prove necessary.

Acting Chairman Paul Murray, fellow directors Douglas Park and John Gilligan, and the Club's Head of Football Administration Andrew Dickson have been appointed to the Board of the Company.

The notice refers to being suspended from their duties - not that they've been suspended as Directors. The wording is very precise.

Irvine is correct when he says you cannot suspend a director. However, you can suspend the powers of a director. That is to say that the director can attend meetings but he cannot vote on any matters at the meeting.
