Nathan Oduwa signs from Spurs on loan

Recommended Posts

Given their workload and ability, I wouldn't mind putting Waghorn and Miller in the wider positions of a front-3 during the latter stages of the game. Clark is "to small" to be our main centre forward when it comes to that, and whether Hardie is an answer Warburton envisages is anyone's guess.

Playing one striker up front will cost us in the long run. This needs to change.

We play that system right through to the under 10's so don't hold your breath waiting for it to change. I doubt you will make it.

He certainly gets great reviews the lad but....

He went out on loan to Luton Town on Feb 2nd this year. He made his Football League debut as a substitute on 7th February in a 1-1 draw against Oxford.

He made a further 10 appearances for them, won 1 drew 1 lost 8 scored nil.

MARK WARBURTON has made another swoop on the English market to sign Tottenham Hotspur duo Nathan Oduwa and Dominic Ball on season-long loan deals.

The Rangers manager has a good relationship with Spurs having helped the development of top prospect Alex Pritchard last season when he led Brentford to the cusp of the play-offs.

His top target was exciting England under-21 international Harry Winks, but he is now being promoted to Mauricio Pochettino’s first team plans at White Hart Lane.

However, both left-side attacker Oduwa and centre back Ball are highly rated and were coveted by a number of Championship clubs down south.

Oduwa, 20, is known for his quick feet and dribbling ability. He can operate both on the wing and through the centre.

Last season he spent time on loan at Luton Town where he made 11 appearances, although only three of those came from the start.

Ball, meanwhile, who can also play as a defensive midfield player, was on loan with Cambridge United in League Two last season until April.

The 19-year-old was capped at U16, 17, 18, 19 and 21 age groups by Northern Ireland but switched international allegiance to England last year and has been capped at U19 and 21 levels.

Ball took to Twitter last night to say: “Buzzing to have signed for Rangers on loan, looking forward to helping them have a successful season.”

Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae is not surprised that Warburton has moved for the two young Englishmen and expects them to be in the running to play every week.

Rae said: “Mark Warburton has come here with a list of players he wanted. He is not taking a punt on players he doesn’t know.

“He has good contacts at Tottenham, of course, and he was involved in the Next Gen series so he also has a good understanding off the youth scene.

“Alex Pritchard was a stand-out for Brentford last season and has gone back to Spurs ready to play in the first team.

“II don’t know too much about Oduwa and Ball but I know that Warburton and Davie Weir will know all about them.

“They have been out on loan before and they have international caps at youth and under-21 level

“It’s another two addition to the squads and I think bringing Ball in particularly is a good idea because Rangers are a bit short at the back if either of the regular paring are injured.”
